Twitch Star Pokimane on Her Stalker: That’s Why She’s Not Buying a House!
Twitch star Pokimane is the most successful streamer on the platform and can proudly look back on an impressive number of followers and subscribers. But if you are successful, you will eventually have unwelcome fans on the mat – sometimes in the truest sense of the word.
And Imane Anys, like them streamer that’s right, already has a lot of experience with hate on the internet made: Hateful messages after a picture in which she can be seen without make-up, inappropriate sexualization and insults from fans are unfortunately nothing new for the streamer.
Stalker follows Pokimane to the front door
In an interview with the YouTuber Anthony Padilla However, Pokimane spoke about a fan who went beyond the anonymity of the internet to harass the streamer in real life. A fan became a real stalker and probably traveled to California just to visit Pokimane at his house:
“There was a guy who showed up in our neighborhood and just walked around looking for us. He met my roommate and was like, ‘Oh I know you. You have to take me to Poki, we belong together. Me came down here for her.'”
Luckily her roommate switched quickly and warned Pokimane about the guy, after which the streamer locked all her doors – and turned on the stream: “I figured if the guy finds me and tries something scary, at least I’ll be streaming so people can see what happens.”
In the interview, she goes on to say that such fans are the reason why the streamer no house wants to buy. Buying a house is tied to an address and as soon as it becomes known in such circles, any sense of security would disappear. Without property, the Twitch star says he is more flexible and can quickly change his current place of residence if necessary.
The fear of pushy and dangerous fans is also the reason why Pokimane uses three phone numbers: “I’ve received so many scary messages. If someone finds out your number and decides to swat you, threatens you with this and that, or says they’ll find your family.”
