While the open world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild leaves endless freedoms for exploration, there are some places we can’t get to. One of those places we don’t have access to is Mount Agaat in the west of the Gerudo Desert. We tell you what could be behind it.

Big puzzle in the open world

Mount Agaat poses one of the biggest mysteries in BOTW. It is a huge mountain that even got its own name on the world map. But as soon as we try to enter the mountain, an invisible wall prevents us from proceeding any further.

What’s with the invisible wall? Normally in open worlds such borders serve to limit the map to the edge. But in BOTW there would still be enough space after Mount Agaat to place the invisible wall. The curiosity about what is on Mount Agaat is all the greater.

What is on Mount Agaat? The answer: nothing. At least not yet. Many fans have already speculated in advance that Mount Agaat will be accessible with upcoming DLCs. All DLCs have now been released, but Mount Agaat remains impassable.

Mount Agaat as an introduction to BOTW 2

On YouTube, BanditGames posts a thesis on Mount Agaat linked to BOTW 2. The trailer clearly shows that this is an area linked to the Gerudos people. In addition, Link and Zelda have brought so much wood with them that we can assume that their journey underground will probably be a little longer:

What does that mean? Possibly the two are in a huge underground area below the Gerudo desert. Mount Agaat may serve as a gateway to the subsurface or be otherwise associated with it.

Another mountain located on the other side of the Gerudo Desert cannot be entered either. Although the mountain hasn’t been given a name yet, it could also play a bigger role with BOTW 2. The YouTuber assumes that this could be an exit from the underground dungeon.

Since BOTW 2 will also take place in Hyrule, the theory could really be correct. But we won’t find out until next year whether Mount Agaat is really connected to the sequel. Because the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 for the switch was postponed to 2023 at the end of March. Until then we have to be patient.

What do you think of the theory surrounding Mount Agaat?
