iOS 15.5 & iPadOS 15.5 are here: an innovation and many bug fixes

iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 are now available for download. It could be the last update for version 15. In Germany, the update comes with a new feature.

Apple rolled out iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to users during the night from Monday to Tuesday. As usual, the updates fix a lot of bugs, close security gaps and also bring minor improvements. In Germany, however, the innovations are limited to a single feature for the Apple Podcasts app. In the US, iOS 15.5 has another useful feature for Apple Cash users on board.

Just a new feature for German users

The changelog for improvements in iOS 15.5 is quite meager, only the following two changes can be found there.

In the US, there is another useful feature for Apple Cash users in the iOS update. As of iOS 15.5, they can send and receive money directly from the wallet app. Should Apple Cash also appear in this country at some point, the function should also be directly available for German users.

However, a lot has happened under the hood of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5. Apple’s developer closed over 25 security holes in the update. In addition, the function Universal controlwhich allows users to use a single input device such as a mouse and keyboard on multiple Macs and iPads, left beta in iPadOS 15.5 and is now a fully-fledged part of the system.

The last update before iOS 16?

Possibly iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 could be the last updates of the current operating system version. Because at the beginning of June at WWDC 2022, Apple will most likely be presenting iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and other new versions of its operating systems. The new operating systems should then appear as usual in the coming autumn.
