Final Fantasy 7 Remake 2? Square hints at reveal in June and there was something…

Final Fantasy 7 celebrates its 25th birthday this year. Square Enix wants to celebrate that with some news in June, like producer Tetsuya Nomura in one live stream announced (via VGC). Of course, this fuels hopes for a first trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake 2, because the publisher promised some time ago that we would finally receive tangible information about the title in 2022. But that’s not all, because Final Fantasy 16 could also be shown in a new trailer.

Final Fantasy could dominate Sony’s State of Play in June

There are solid rumors that Sony will hold a big State of Play with blockbusters like God of War Ragnarök and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in early June. This also makes sense, as traditionally many publishers hold detailed presentations on their lineup just before the summer slump. And the E3 will be canceled completely in 2022 (even if Sony has not been involved in the fair for a long time).

Is the game even that far? In fact, we know very little about Final Fantasy 7 Remake 2 so far. Development may not have progressed far enough to show a trailer. A teaser with a little surprise and the logo would also be conceivable, to keep us happy. A mention of the game at the State of Play is definitely to be expected.

Here’s what we know about FF 7 Remake 2: However, those responsible have dropped a few pieces of information in the past. Some gameplay mechanics from the Yuffie DLC should find their way into the successor. There is also a big difference: Even more than Part 1, Remake 2 should deviate from the events of the original and shake up the well-known story.

More Final Fantasy news:

Final Fantasy 16 is also probably part of the game: Final Fantasy 7 may be the birthday boy, but Square wants to celebrate and spotlight the entire franchise this year. Several new FF games are scheduled to appear in 2022. We don’t know yet whether Final Fantasy 16 will be one of them, but we definitely expect news about the next part of the series.

So far we had to be content with the announcement trailer:

Final Fantasy 16 – Next part of the RPG series announced

Trailer is already cut: Square has even revealed that the new trailer for Final Fantasy 16 is ready, but special circumstances have meant that it has not been shown until today. A request from Sony to show the clip as part of a State of Play in June would probably also come under special circumstances. That’s just speculation now, but since both Final Fantasy 7 Remake 2 and Final Fantasy 16 are both time-exclusives for the PlayStation, that’s not too far-fetched.
