SONY: Apparently no more marketing deal for Call of Duty on PlayStation

Sony apparently no longer has a marketing deal for the Call of Duty shooter series on the PlayStation.

Sony recently unveiled its marketing deals for various games at a company strategy meeting. There were ten titles listed. Including Grand Theft Auto V, Final Fantasy XVI, FIFA and Forspoken.

However, one important franchise was missing: Call of Duty.

It seems as if Sony is no longer promoting exclusivity for the successful shooter series and thus also for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

That’s surprising given that there have been deals between Sony and Activision for Call of Duty games in recent years that have allowed players to play content or modes exclusive to PlayStation earlier than other platforms.

The planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard by competitor Microsoft and the disappointing performance of Call of Duty: Vanguard may have played a role in Sony’s decision not to enter into a marketing deal again.

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II this year, Xbox players could get exclusive content for the shooter series before anyone else for the first time since the Xbox 360 era.
