Embracer Group: Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal have potential for remakes and more

The studios Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, which will soon be part of the Embracer Group, not only have the potential for remakes.

Earlier this month, Embracer Group announced it would acquire parts of Square Enix for $300 million. These are parts of the western division with the studios Square Enix Montreal, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal and the associated game brands.

Embracer sees great potential for the two studios Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal when it comes to sequels, remakes and remasters.

Lars Wingefors, Embracer’s CEO, said that positive feedback was received following the announcement, suggesting great potential for future games such as remakes or sequels.

“We recently announced the acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain and other IPs.”

“The announcement has received an overwhelming and positive response. We see great potential not only in sequels but also in remakes, remasters, spin-offs as well as transmedia projects within the group.”
