Buy a 9 euro ticket: This is how you get the train ticket digitally

Due to the sharp rise in energy prices in the last month, the federal government has taken several measures as part of one relief package for citizens put on the way.

Among other things, the Fuel at the gas station temporarily cheaper, workers are expected to get in September 300 euros energy flat rate paid with the regular salary – and public transport is massively discounted for three months.

For just 9 euros you can get one from now on monthly ticket for public transport, which is valid throughout Germany for all local and regional public transport. This includes, for example, buses, trams, S-Bahn, U-Bahn and RB and RE trains of Deutsche Bahn.

9 euro ticket with the train app

The easiest way to buy the new 9 euro ticket is this Acquisition via the DB Navigator App, which is available for installation free of charge for Android devices and iPhones in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

There you will find it right on the “Travel information” start page at the bottom of the screen 9 euro tickets. Tap the icon and follow the instructions.

Bahn account required

Important: The 9 Euro ticket must be used for each month separately can be purchased for 9 euros each. This is possible for June, July and August 2022. If you want to use the full three months, you will 27 euros in total due.

The 9 euro ticket is valid throughout Germany on all means of local and regional transport.

To buy the 9 euro ticket, you must have a Online account with Deutsche Bahn available and in the DB Navigator app log in. If you do not yet have such an account, simply register for free on the Deutsche Bahn online portal. This also works directly on the smartphone.

You can pay for your digital 9 euro ticket in various ways. This is possible per Credit card, PayPal, direct debit or paydirekt/giropay. You will then receive the ticket for Germany-wide public transport both by e-mail as well as digital ticket in the DB Navigator app on your smartphone.

This is how your 9 euro ticket is checked

You can find the 9 euro ticket in the app either in the tab “travel information” below or by clicking the tab via the menu “My Tickets” choose. In any case, you must open the digital ticket during a ticket inspection so that the QR code you can see.

The control personnel in local public transport scan it directly on their smartphone display, and you must also have one show official photo ID, such as an ID card or passport to confirm their identity.
