Elden Ring – Faith Build: Let it rain lightning and fire

Elden Ring - Faith Build: Let it rain lightning and fire

If you look around for Elden Ring guides, you’ll often come across the usual suspects: magic builds that blast bosses to pieces in three seconds with a Kamehameha or bleed builds with the “Bloody Torrents” katana. Invocations are a strong alternative, whether you want to strike at close range or with spells from afar.

Why invocations instead of magic?

At first glance, invocations seem significantly less attractive than spells. On average, they deal less damage and their cast time is also much higher. The benefit, however, is that invocations are far more flexible and complement many other playstyles. For example, with a few buffs you can become a fantastic melee fighter.

You also have access to a large number of elements. Whether your opponent is vulnerable to Fire, Holy, Frost, or Lightning, you have access to them. Mages stare at magic-resistant enemies instead.

Early Game Build (Levels 1-50)

You'll need to rely even more on melee combat initially, but you can gradually weave more invocations and weapon skills into your playstyle.

Starting class: confessor

Values:

  • Power: 30
  • Spirit: 16
  • Condition: 15
  • Strength: 18
  • Skill: 12
  • Wisdom: 9
  • Believe: 20
  • Arcane: 9

Weapon: morning star

offhand: finger seal + brass shield

Talismans: Green Turtle Talisman, Crimson Amber Locket

At first you don’t have access to particularly good spells and should rely more on your melee. The morning star you get it very early in the game. It deals good damage and, above all, hardly needs any stats to be worn. Pack in an Ashes of War early on, which will give you a Faith scaling. In the beginning we recommend you for this holy blade.

That finger seal enough for all your spells. For other, stronger seals you would have to invest in Wisdom or Arcane, which we advise against here. Uses depending on the opponent flamethrower or Flashing Spearto weaken them from afar and then finish them off in melee.

Also, get one of Godrick’s soldiers brass shield. It’s one of the best shields in the game if you don’t want to invest too much in power.

Talismans are of little importance this early in the game. But we recommend one Crimson Amber Locket and the Green Turtle Talisman.

Mid Game Build (Level 51-100)

You now have a larger selection of spells. Thanks to faith scaling, your weapon still keeps up very well.

Values:

  • Power: 38
  • Spirit: 23
  • Condition: 20
  • Strength: 18
  • Skill: 12
  • Wisdom: 9
  • Believe: 50
  • Arcane: 9

Weapon: Gargoyle greatsword

offhand: Earth Tree Sigil + brass shield

Talismans: Green Turtle Talisman, Canvas talisman of believers, Ritual sword talisman, Radagon icon

There are many good faith weapons. But that Gargoyle greatsword needs very few extra points in Dexterity and Strength for the damage it deals. Thanks to the right ashes of war, you still get a very good faith scaling. For other weapons, you would have to accept severe cuts in your faith value or do without medium armor. Uses for example sword danceto make you even more dangerous in close combat.

That Earth Tree Sigil is the best talisman for pure Faith builds that don’t want to invest in Wisdom or Arcane. But that only really becomes apparent when you fully upgrade it and invest even more in faith. With the talismans you should now go a little more in the direction of magic. But if you’re having trouble, switch to something defensive as needed.

End Game Build (Levels 101-150)

Melee combat and invocations combine in a deadly combination.

Melee combat and invocations combine in a deadly combination.

Why only level 150?

Most builds that you will find online end at level 150. The community has agreed on this level so that you can still find enough players for PvP or summons. If you don’t like the multiplayer aspect of the game though, feel free to keep leveling up. By now you should have a feel for what stats you need.

Values:

  • Power: 48
  • Spirit: 30
  • Condition: 25
  • Strength: 18
  • Skill: 12
  • Wisdom: 9
  • Believe: 78
  • Arcane: 9

Weapon: Gargoyle greatsword

offhand: Earth Tree Sigil + brass shield

Talismans: Talisman of the old prince, Dragon Greatshield Talisman, Canvas talisman of the flock, Radagon icon

By now you should have noticed the massive damage that the high faith value brings to your spells. You can also choose from the full range of all invocations. Elden Stars bring down the boss as you run into battle. For example, you torment fire-sensitive bosses Giant fire, burn them! or Black blade. Dragons fall victim to your numerous lightning spells.

But you can also dish out properly in close combat. Use at the beginning of the fight Golden Oath and Blessing of the Earth Tree. This not only causes you a lot of damage, but also heals you continuously. Of the Talisman of the old prince makes these buffs last longer.

Additional equipment

To really get that 80 Faith value, you should kill some Haligbaum Knights and farm their equipment. Of the Haligbaum knight’s helmet grants you two points in faith and also the rest of the armor looks very nice for a paladin. You have enough stamina for the full set.

Editorial opinion

Stephen: This build is especially good if you want to explore every aspect of the Elden Ring. You have access to every single damage type, the different war ashes, buffs and strong attack magic. You can also customize a lot here. Tired of heavy armor? Then take some points from stamina and put them into arcane so you can use the dragon spells and bleed invocations as well.

By the way, the build is especially fun with friends. They are happy about your buffs, so that you can master bosses much easier together.
