In case you forgot: The Witcher 3 Next Gen is getting new DLCs
It’s only been a month since CD Projekt Red had to put off all Witcher fans. The next gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was supposed to be released in the second quarter of 2022, but was then postponed indefinitely.
After all, Michał Nowakowski, Senior Vice President of Business Development at CDPR, said afterwards that “no one says the game will be postponed with a monumental time lag”. Well, everyone defines “monumental” a little differently, but we probably won’t have to wait longer than seven months after the fourth quarter of 2022 was recently announced as the new release period.
This raises the question of when The Witcher 3 Next Gen will be released in the fourth quarter, and what many may no longer have on their screens: What new DLCs are waiting for us?
A touch of Netflix Witcher for the next gen version
It was already known that The Witcher 3 Next Gen will not only contain all previous DLCs, but also rely on new content, but probably not so firmly anchored in the minds of the fans. Marcin Momot, Global Community Director at CD Projekt Red, once again pointed out what we can expect in the next-gen version, at least after the announcement of the new release period:
Next Hearts of Stone, Blood and Wine along with all other DLC and patches, The Witcher series on Netflix, starring Henry Cavill as Geralt, will also play its part. After The Witcher 3, which has actually been completed so far, we still have new DLCs inspired by the Netflix series.

What kind of series DLC could that be? Unfortunately, all we know so far is that the DLCs are somehow related to the Netflix series. But CD Projekt Red will certainly not present us with any DLCs on the scale of Blood and Wine. Instead, we’re counting on skins, weapons, and armor. But who knows, maybe CDPR will also add some small new quests and references to the series? At the end of the year we will probably know at the latest.

A conditionally free upgrade: The next gen version of The Witcher 3 will be available as a free upgrade for those who already own the game on PS4 and Xbox One. Aside from the DLCs and patches, we still expect technical improvements like ray tracing and faster loading times.
If you are also interested in the other CD Projekt Red projects, we have an overview for you of which games the Polish studio is currently working on. Not only are The Witcher games included, but also Cyberpunk 2077 expansions, an anime and a whole new game.
