Rainbow Six Siege: A playful Belgian steals your sight in Operation Vector Glare

Rainbow Six Siege: A playful Belgian steals your sight in Operation Vector Glare

It’s that time again: The seventh year of Rainbow Six Siege is entering the next season and, in addition to a new operator, brings many other changes, new features and a few firsts.

Season 2 is titled “Operation Vector Glare” and starts on June 7th on the live servers. This sentence already contains the first innovation, because so far Ubisoft has always kept the exact start date a secret. This time you can mark the date in your calendar.

On the new TDM map it goes around

Each season comes a new map and a new operator. This time you can look forward to the first pure team death match map and welcome the lovable Belgian Sens to the ranks of the attackers.

The TDM map is called “Close Quarter” and lets you compete against each other in Greece. What makes Close Quarter special is that this map is the first designed exclusively for Team Death Match. She has no bomb spots and prefers to focus on good movement and lots of line of sight.

Slightly circular in structure, you should be able to easily find your way around the map. There is an upper level and a lower level, and fairly clearly colored rooms, such as a kitchen or a workshop.

Unfortunately, there is no new map in Season 3. Here the Singapore map announced on the roadmap for next season has been moved to the final season of year seven.

This is what it will look like on Close Quarter.

Sens Sells, or what was that again?

Playful, dreamy and full of life – this is how the new operator is described. But the Belgian can not only listen to music and forget the world around him. No, Sens, as the good man is called, is trained in the military and psychology and fights as an attacker in Rainbow Six Siege.

As a support character, Sens is rather slow but well armored and carries a POF-9 and a 417 as his primary weapons, as well as the SDP 9mm and a Gonne-6 as his secondary weapons. Claymore and Hardbreach are also in the attacker’s pack.

So likeable and yet so deadly. Sens really is the best of both worlds.

His ROU Projector System rolls across the floor, distributing small projectors that release a wall of light after a certain time. All players can shoot through these, but cannot see through them.

The wall of light remains in place for a full 13 seconds. However, as with any gadget, there is counterplay here too, as you can block or reverse it so that the wall doesn’t unleash, or doesn’t unleash as intended. Special glasses or cameras can also see through the light fog.

As far as lore goes, a new squad is coming to Rainbow Six Siege. Wolfguard combines many operators with defensive abilities. These include Lion, Montagne, Nomad, Twitch, Ying, Sens, Clash, Melusi, Bandit, Frost, Thunderbird, Castle and the team’s leader, Doc.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is the weapon from Wolfguard.

What else is changing in Rainbow Six Siege

Getting started should be easier for new players. Small video clips show beginners how the operators and their gadgets work, and with the new shooting range, new and experienced players can try out all weapons on targets and dummies.

If you also bring up to four players to Rainbow Six Siege who haven’t played in year 7, you and your teammates can look forward to special rewards, such as operators from previous years or exotic weapon skins.

Aside from that, two Yakuza skins for Hibana and Echo come into play. The two transform into Kaoru Sayama and Kiryu Kazuma in cooperation with SEGA. A new elite skin for Echo, based on another Yakuza character, is also slated for release.

Ubisoft is also introducing the first phase of the reputation system. If you injure your own teammates too often, you can get angry about the “Reverse Firendly Fire”. The system should also recognize and punish toxic players more quickly. Privacy mode is also finally being introduced this season.
