Sonic Frontiers: SEGA strives for high ratings

SEGA is aiming for high ratings for Sonic Frontiers

SEGA wants to deliver a real highlight with Sonic Frontiers and that should also be reflected in high ratings worldwide.

When asked, SEGA Sammy’s CEO Haruki Satomi and CFO Koichi Fukazawa confirmed that they would aim for high ratings. The quality goal for the game is clearly defined and thus also target values for rating portals such as Metacritic.

“We have set internal targets because the correlation between scores from external rating organizations and sales figures in Europe and North America is high,” it said.

“If the game gets a high rating it may become a ‘must buy’ game and potentially generate synergy with sales, so we are currently working hard to improve the quality of the game in terms of holiday season sales .”

Sonic team boss Takashi Iizuka previously said in an interview that he would like Frontiers to make the same lasting impression as Sonic Adventure.

“Sonic Adventure laid the groundwork for 20 years of Sonic titles since its release and so I really hope that this new title coming out in 2022 will lay the groundwork for the Sonic titles to come – that’s the idea behind the challenge for the team,” said Iizuka.

Sonic Frontiers is slated for release later this year for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. It remains to be seen how well the blue hedgehog performs in the end.
