CoD Warzone: Mid-Season 3 starts tomorrow with more than 10 major changes – “Probably the best update yet”

Season 3 celebrates halftime in Call of Duty: Warzone. With a big mid-season update on the evening of May 25th, massive changes are coming to the battle royale: a new perk, the fast travel system for Caldera and much more. Get a first overview on MeinMMO.

Season 3 is halfway through again, bringing new content and changes to the free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone in a major mid-season update. And the update has it all.

The first blog post about the update already shows extensive changes to the game and there is more to come. The Warzone professional “IcemanIsaac” even describes the update as “probably the best update of Warzone so far” (via twitter.com).

CoD Warzone: Mid-Season 3 Update Info

When is the update coming? Mid-Season 3 starts in Warzone on May 25 at 6 p.m.

How big is the update? There is no information about this yet. But the fast travel system in particular looks very memory-hungry. An update between 5 and 15 GB would be possible, maybe even larger.

Is there a preload? With the last updates, the preloads were rather irregular and sometimes not at all. It is not possible to say for sure whether you will be able to download the update sooner.

The developers at Raven Software have already given many details in the first blog post for Mid-Season 3, but emphasize that these are not all changes.

But what is already known so far, we show you here:

• Fast travel system on Caldera

Almost every point of interest on Caldera will have access to the new fast travel system. The tunnel system, in which you tile over the island with mining vehicles, has 14 entrances. Approach one of these vehicles to see where the piece takes you.

• Blue Perk “Serpentine”

The new perk is also available in CoD: Vanguard and reduces incoming damage when you run. Bullet, explosive attacks, and fire deal 20% less damage to you. If you hit an enemy with the perk, you get a special hit marker when the damage is reduced.

The self-revive token gets a visit from relatives. The valuable bonuses “Gulag Token” and “Redeploy Token” come into play and give you more options when respawning.

While the Gulag Token brings you into the 1vs1 duel a second time, the Redeploy Token brings you right back into the match after a death. Both tokens only last as long as the Gulag is open and pay out a lot of cash if you have them in your inventory by then.

These zones are intended to create new, attractive take-off zones. Right at the start of the match there are marked zones on Caldera that are equipped with particularly good loot.

A look can be worthwhile. However, don’t assume it’s going to be quiet here.

• Radar Jammer field upgrade

Similar to the field upgrades “Trophy System” and “PDS” you throw this piece on the ground in front of you and all nearby enemies have a broken mini-map and cannot use killstreaks.

• “Champion of Caldera” solo

With the new solo mode, you can go full throttle from the first minute and you won’t rest again – the circle closes the whole time and you should be constantly on the move.

You start with 149 players directly with your loadout equipment and find more cash than usual. The thalers earned can be spent at a souped-up buy station that offers you improved reconnaissance drones and even the heavy specialist bonus.

To further encourage aggressive play, each kill restores health, gear, and ammo.

• New submachine gun H4 Bixen

In the blog, the new MP is compared to the powerful Owen Gun: the Bixen is said to have a slightly longer range, but a lower rate of fire. Vertical recoil is less, but the recoil pattern can be tricky.

From the first descriptions, the Bixen could be a strong sniper support with high damage but also adequate recoil resistance.

Unfortunately, the challenge again sounds very much like something for multiplayer: collect 3 kills while sliding in 15 different matches.

• Changes on Rebirth Island

There should be further adjustments on the small island map, but there are no real details so far. The blog is more about the story unfolding on Rebirth.

However, a new in-match event has already been announced: Occupation Scans. If the event is active, you have to lie down on the floor. Any Operators that don’t taste the ground can be seen on the large map and on the enemy mini-map.

• Lots of quality-of-life adjustments

In addition to all the gameplay adjustments and new content, there are apparently many smaller changes to Warzone that change the feel of the game on a small scale.

However, the details will only be announced with the official patch notes. As a teaser, Raven Software has announced a new “Squad HUD”. You may be able to use this to get more info about your teammates’ gear.
