You can also play PS Plus Premium games offline, but you still need an internet connection

Playing offline is possible with an extra and premium subscription, but it doesn’t work entirely without the internet.

You’ve probably already noticed that Sony’s subscription service will be divided into the three models Essential, Extra and Premium in the future. Depending on which variant you choose, you have different game libraries to choose from for download. We’ll tell you what it looks like with these titles if you want to gamble offline.

It’s all about this: The good news: If you have an extra or premium membership, you can basically also play the titles you downloaded from the games catalog offline. But there is one condition: you have to connect and validate your membership every seven days. Sony has that in the PlayStation Blog announced.

This is to ensure that your membership is still active. Incidentally, this step is not necessary for all Essential subscribers. Essential is basically the same as the “old” PS Plus and unlike the new models, which are available for an extra charge, you don’t have access to the game library apart from the monthly free games.

The switch from the usual PS Plus to the three options will take place soon: These will be available in Germany from June 22nd. If you are currently a member, you will automatically have the Essential subscription from this date. You still get the usual three free games per month, you can play multiplayer online and you get access to cloud storage and discounts.

PS Plus Extra gives you access to an extensive catalog of PS4 and PS5 games on top of the Essential benefits. Premium adds PS1, PS2 and PSP games, cloud-streamed PS3 games and trial versions of AAA titles to everything that’s included in the other plans.
