Battlefield 2042: DICE abandons Hazard Zone

As developer DICE announces, new content will no longer be developed for Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone mode.

The mode will remain playable and the studio will address any issues that arise, but new content for it will no longer be supported.

A short life

Hazard Zone was introduced with the launch of Battlefield 2042 in November 2021. In the PvP and PvE mode, squads of four players search for crashed satellites in order to recover the data from them.

DICE announced in a new blog entry that Hazard Zone is no longer being developed.

More Battlefield 2042 news:

“All of us on the team had great ambitions and high hopes for this new Battlefield experience during development, but we’re the first to raise our hands and admit that it didn’t find the right home in Battlefield 2042 and that we really like it benefit as we put our focus and energy into the modes that we see resonate with you the most.”

“Hazard Zone will continue to be part of the gameplay experience, we’re not shutting it down, but other than fixing critical bugs and odd behaviors that might appear in the future, we’re no longer actively developing new experiences or content for the mode. As such, maps, that we release across our seasons are not endorsed by Hazard Zone.”

After a long delay, Season 1 in Battlefield 2042 should finally start in June 2022. The launch was originally planned for the beginning of the year, but was postponed in order to first solve other problems after the problematic launch.
