[PLUS] AMD FSR 2.0 in the first test against FSR 1.0 and DLSS

AMD’s super resolution

Almost a year has passed since AMD first offered an alternative to Nvidia’s very popular DLSS upsampling process with FidelityFX Super Resolution, or FSR for short. FSR 1.0 was received with mixed feelings, but quickly gained wide distribution and even found a foothold in some console titles. The response from the players, on the other hand, was diverse. Many gamers were happy about the possibility of being able to use useful upsampling on non-Nvidia GPUs or older Geforce graphics cards, but some criticized the quality. The first iteration of FSR had some obvious weaknesses compared to Nvidia’s DLSS 2.x, including a significantly less stable image and visible scaling artifacts.

However, at least a large part of these “weak points” are buried in the technical nature. Some of these aspects of FSR 1.0 are also positive from a different perspective. FSR 1.0 uses an anti-aliasing process already integrated into the respective game in order to base the purely spatial upscaling process on it. A not inconsiderable advantage of FSR 1.0: Due to the relatively simple technical basis, the algorithm can be integrated into games very easily and quickly. This was an advantage of FSR 1.0 over DLSS, which FSR 2.0 has now partly lost because of the more complex and temporal calculations. But first things first.
