There’s a sport called Blitzball in Final Fantasy 10 – and now in Star Wars too.

In a galaxy far, far away, the curious underwater sport called blitzball must have been played a long time ago. In other words, a sport from Final Fantasy 10 is now entering the Star Wars universe. It’s as odd and absurd as it sounds, but it actually makes Blitzball officially part of the Star Wars canon. Simply because the author of a book is such a big fan.

Star Wars and Blitzball from Final Fantasy 10 now belong together

That’s what it’s about: Do you know Blitzball? If you’ve played Final Fantasy 10, you probably have. It’s a ball sport that takes place underwater and is now also part of the Star Wars canon. That’s because author Mike Chen mentions them in his latest novel. Probably simply because he can.

On Twitter reveals the author of Star Wars: Brotherhood a whole series of interesting and curious Easter eggs that he incorporated into his novel. It’s actually about Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and what the two Jedi experience during the time of the clone wars. But there is also a sport in it from Final Fantasy.

According to Mike Chen, he incorporated a Blitzball reference into his book. At least it mentions that the sport would be played in a lake. It’s a mini-game from Final Fantasy 10 that the author loved and played so much that he just had to incorporate it into his Star Wars novel.

But as the thread reveals, it doesn’t stop with this one reference. On the contrary: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is also mentioned in the new Star Wars book. That, along with a whole host of other clues, could point to a crossover in either the Disney series Obi-Wan Kenobi or the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor game. Possibly Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cal Kestis clash.

What do you think of such Easter eggs? Do you think it fits together or rather not?
