God of War: PC update implements AMD’s Fidelity FX Super Resolution 2.0
Earlier this year, God of War finally came out for PC. Kratos Adventures is the most successful PlayStation exclusive ported to PC to date. A television series with the god of war is also planned for Amazon Prime Video. The latest update for the PC version, Patch 1.0.12implements support for the latest version of AMD’s Fidelity FX Super Resolution 2.0, FSR for short. There have always been minor improvements to the action-adventure game in the past.
God of War implements AMD’s upscaling technology
God of War patch 1.0.12 integrates support for AMD’s upscaling technology Fidelity FX Super Resolution 2.0. So they want Nvidia’s competitor product DLSS finally stand up. Specifically, this option allows God of War to be played at a lower resolution with the same image quality, freeing up resources to allow for a higher frame rate or additional visual effects. In contrast to DLSS, FSR 2.0 does not use machine learning.
More games will soon support FSR
When AMD released FSR 2.0 for the PC, the technology only read for the shooter deathloop to use. Now it is also available for God of War. AMD promises that in the near future at least a dozen more games to support the new version. We’re talking about blockbusters like Anno 1800, Farming Simulator 22 or Far Cry 6. The colleagues from PC Games Hardware have them FX Super Resolution 2.0 put to the test in an extensive test and worked out the improvements to the predecessor.
With the presentation of the first iteration of FSR in 2021, AMD created an alternative to Nvidia’s DLSS and thus also gave non-Nvidia GPUs or older Geforce graphics cards access to upscaling. It remains to be seen how AMD’s technology will develop in the future.
