I tried 2 controllers for Diablo Immortal - That's why they are much better than the touchscreen

Now you can Diablo Immortal play on mobile. You can make your life easier if you use a controller. MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann has tested two mobile devices and explains why they are much better than the touchscreen.

Diablo Immortal aims to bring the typical hack-and-slash gameplay to mobile devices. So you can kill a lot of opponents and then collect loot.

On mobile, you can control your character using either your phone’s touchscreen or a controller. By the way, you can read how old your cell phone can be for Diablo Immortal on MeinMMO.

Two controllers are currently among my absolute favorites, because you can connect them directly to your cell phone. As a result, the controllers take up less space than if you use the Xbox or PlayStation controller. I tested the controllers with a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (6.4 inches) and the Note 10+ (6.8 inches). Both of my devices fit easily into the presented controllers.

The Razer Kishi is a good all-rounder when it’s on sale

What kind of controller is that? The Razer Kishi is a controller in the middle of which you clamp your phone. You then connect the cell phone directly via the USB-C or Lightning connector. This way the controller doesn’t need a battery either, but you can’t charge your phone or use the headphone jack either. Razer does not report size in inches, but in units of measure ((145.3 – 163.7 mm x 68.2 – 78.1 mm x 7.0 – 8.8 mm).

What’s good about it? The controller is very compact and well suited for luggage. Neither I (big hands) nor my girlfriend (small hands) had any problems reaching any buttons. The setup works without any problems and the part is recognized directly by the game and the mobile phone. Since I’ve played on the PC with an Xbox controller so far, I find my way around straight away.

The Razer Kishi. It’s small and practical.

What didn’t go so well? The processing cannot always convince me. Razer relies primarily on plastic. The two halves of the controller are connected to each other with a kind of leather strap. This works fine. Other manufacturers rely on a stable holder on the back. After a while, I find the posture tiring and not perfectly ergonomic. My girlfriend didn’t have the problem.

For whom is the controller recommended? If you are looking for a good all-rounder that is also suitable for a number of games apart from Diablo Immortal, then take a look at the Razer Kishi. It is best to buy the part for 50 – 60 euros. For the normal price of around 110 euros, it is simply too expensive.

Note, however, that Razer sells a dedicated device for both Apple and Android devices. The device for Android uses USB-C and can therefore not be used on an iPhone.

The Nacon MG-X Pro offers great ergonomics, but doesn’t always have precise buttons

What kind of controller is that? The MG-X Pro is also a device in the middle of which you clamp your cell phone. However, the controller uses Bluetooth as the connection and you must therefore charge the controller regularly. The MG-X Pro is suitable for cell phones up to 6.7 inches. My Galaxy Note 10+ is officially 0.1 inches too big, but it still fits in the controller.

What’s good about it? The ergonomics feels very comfortable due to the molded and knurled handles. I could easily gamble with it for half an afternoon. Both my girlfriend and I could easily reach all the keys. The controller can be easily set up on an Android device and is recognized directly by Diablo Immortal. In contrast to the Kishi, the cell phone of the MG-X Pro is held by a bar between the halves of the controller. I like that better and promises me security for my device. The battery life lasted several days without any problems, but I only played for a few hours in the evening.

The Nacon MG-X Pro. It’s quite bulky and takes up more space than the Razer Kishi.

What didn’t go so well? On iOS we had trouble connecting the controller directly and it didn’t work right away. Overall, the part is more unwieldy than the Kishi and does not easily fit in the luggage. You hardly notice the latency of Bluetooth in pure solo games, but a little more in online games. With Diablo Immortal, however, I didn’t feel the lag as much as something with the GeForce Now streaming service.

The thumbsticks of the controller feel really spongy in places. With the sorceress, you have to position your spells in a targeted manner if you want to catch all opponents. Then the control pad is the better partner for aiming.

For whom is the controller recommended? If you are looking for an ergonomic controller that you can flexibly connect to any device, then the MG-X Pro is definitely a recommendation. However, the device is expensive at 90 euros, but is already cheaper than the Kishi at the RRP and also looks better processed thanks to the bridge.

Razer Kishi or Nacon MG-X Pro?

Which controller should I choose? Personally, I like both controllers very much and I’ve already played various games on my cell phone with both devices. If you don’t want to spend more than 60 euros at the current time (June 2, 2022), then grab the Razer Kishi. Because you can currently get the Razer device for around 50 euros.

If you prefer to be flexible because you use different devices or your family has both Android and Apple devices, then go for the Nacon MG-X Pro. Because with Razer you would otherwise have to buy two different devices because the USB-C port does not fit your iPhone.
