What do we know about the story? Surprisingly little. So far, there are actually no official announcements about what is actually happening. The story remains unclear so far, but the new trailer indirectly reveals a lot. As it stands, the future or modernity, along with its engineering and technology, could be in conflict with the past and nature. At least there are some indications.

  • The Legendary Pokemon: Miraidon and Koraidon are already hinting at it. While Miraidon looks futuristic and probably even has robot-like thrusters, Koraidon is more reminiscent of a prehistoric creature.
  • Their names: The Japanese names are also quite clear: “korai” stands for the past and “mirai” for the future.
  • The professors: While they are called Sada and Turo in English, the German-language names Futurus and Antiqua are not very subtle. Here, too, the future and antiquity face each other again, which is also reflected in the look of the two figures:

On the left you can see Professor Futurus, who chooses the same look as the legendary Pokémon Miraidon. Right: Antiqua, on the other hand, looks rather old school.

  • the sounds The music in the new trailer also seems attuned to a conflict between past and future or technology and nature. Miraidon’s music sounds a lot more electronic than the earthier drum rhythms heard on Koraidon.

More on Pokémon Crimson and Crimson:

So all of that might make it pretty clear what’s at stake. Of course, it also fits well with the story of the predecessor Pokémon Legends: Arceus. After all, the main character was transported into the past in its plot. So it wouldn’t surprise us if time travel also plays a big role in Pokémon Crimson and Crimson.

What are you hoping for from the story? Which side would you take?
