Legendary monsters have been an integral part of the Pokémon series since the first installments. And of course, the rare and extremely strong Pokémon will also be back in Pokémon Crimson and Crimson. As usual since the 2nd generation, two of the Legendarys will adorn the covers of the two editions. This time it’s Koraidon (Crimson) and Miraidon (Crimson). We have collected all information about the two Legendarys for you.

These are the legendary Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon

In Pokémon Crimson and Crimson, the contrast between modernity and antiquity obviously plays a major role – the names of the two new professors, Futurus and Antiqua, already indicate this. This theme seems to continue with Koraidon and Miraidon, too, as one Lizard-type Pokémon looks more prehistoric with its feathers, while the other looks futuristic with its thrusters.

Legendaries have this type: There is no official information on this yet, but the Twitter account does Centro Leaks would like to know the type of the two Pokémon already. The leak has not yet been confirmed, but it sounds very plausible after Game Freak’s design reveal:

  • Koraidon: Dragon/Battle
  • Miraidon: Dragon/Electric

This is what the names mean: The legendary Pokémon are mostly related to the story and the game world of a title. Accordingly, the Japanese name meanings are also interesting: Korai stands for “venerable” and Mirai stands for “the future”. Here, too, the topic of time is taken up again.

Here’s what else we learned about the game world, co-op, and more from the latest trailer:

Can we ride the Legendarys? At least there was already insider information on this. Supposedly we can ride Koraidon directly and harness Miraidon to a cart. If you look closely, you can actually see a kind of wheel on each Legendary’s chest. The design combined with the rumors makes it very likely that we can traverse the open world on the backs of the Pokemon.

Should exclusive Legendaries be scrapped?

There are some voices on Reddit who want to put an end to the tradition with the two legendary Pokémon. Always having to choose one of the pocket monsters? That annoys a lot of fans. There are also movements in the community that want to completely do away with exclusive Pokémon that are only represented in one edition.

How do you like the two legendary cover stars?
