PS Plus Premium: Japan lineup gives us hope for Fallout 4, Shenmue and more Resident Evil

Are the Japan highlights also coming to us?

PS Plus Premium has now also been released in Japan, and this gives us the opportunity to compare the lineup with the titles previously confirmed for Germany. It is noticeable that the offer for the PS3 is significantly larger. We can therefore assume that a few more games will be announced for the service before we launch, i.e. in the next three weeks. But there are also various titles in the Japanese lineup for PS4 and PS5, which many of you would probably like to play on your home PlayStation consoles.

PS Plus Premium lineup in Japan hints at more titles for Europe

That is new: Until now, we had to pick up more games for the PS Plus premium lineup from Sony’s promotional campaigns. Although the new PS Plus has been available in some Asian countries for a few days, there is no premium tier there, only PS Plus Extra, which has to do without PS3 games. With Japan we now have a look at a final PS3 list for the first time. But there are also new subscription candidates for PS4 and PS5.

That’s why there will be differences in PS Plus Premium: The list from Japan will not correspond 1:1 to the European lineup. On the one hand it contains many – from a European point of view – niche titles, on the other hand games that were never released in Europe. The titles below are not certain to end up on our service, but chances are good as Sony has already signed deals with their respective publishers – although in some cases these may be restricted to certain regions.

And what about PS1, PS2 and PSP?

Anyone who was hoping that Sony would do more classics will be disappointed by the unveiling of the lineup for Japan. In fact, there are significantly fewer games for the retro consoles PS1, PS2 and PSP included here than will be the case with us. The classics known so far should actually correspond to the final offer. However, there is a small glimmer of hope in the form of a supposed Dino Crisis leak.

PS Plus Premium will be released on June 22 in Europe.
