There are said to be players for whom the mysterious and horrible inland of Elden Ring is not yet challenging enough. The Dark Souls modder Grimrukh now has good news for this type of player: He is currently working on a survival mode for the game in which the tainted have to manage hunger, thirst and diseases.

If the current game from FromSoftware isn’t challenging enough for you, you should take a look at the upcoming project by Dark Souls modder Grimrukh. He recently announced his new mod for Elden Ring on Twitter. With the survival mode, players will have to manage hunger, thirst and area-specific diseases in addition to the normal dangers of the intermediate lands.

Trailer announces survival mode

In order for players to be able to meet this extra challenge, there are plenty of new materials to craft and improve weapons, among other things. The mod is said to include almost 400 new weapon recipes, from daggers to short swords, long swords and scimitars.

The new diseases should play a particularly important role in the upcoming modification. The trailer for the mod shows a Limgrave plague that accelerates the effects of thirst and hunger. In order to get rid of the diseases, the players have to find a cure themselves. In return, the character will also be able to build up resistance to the plagues. Players will have a reduced chance of catching diseases once they have been cured. If a plague is cured a second time, the character even becomes immune.

According to Grimrukh, his mod will be configurable, giving players “a lot of options” depending on which features they want to enable. The mod should also make the nights in the intermediate lands even darker than they already are in the original game. The Elden Ring survival mode scheduled for release on June 6th. Before the release there will be a “premier stream” of Lobosjr.
