With Modern Warfare 2, developer Infinity Ward aims to catch up with the hit Modern Warfare from 2019. Activision apparently pulls out all the stops and even brings back old MW2 maps. We tell you what they are.

Modern Warfare 2: Map leak – popular MW2 classics before return

Where did the leak come from? The leak to the maps celebrating their return in Modern Warfare 2 comes from insider Tom Henderson. It has proven to be a reliable source for information about titles in the “Call of Duty” series and other games over the past few years. In the last few weeks (as of June 2nd, 2022) he has published several articles for the magazine Exputer, among others, in which he reported on the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Among other things, he revealed what the leaked game mode DMZ from Modern Warfare 2 is about. He also explained that some of the maps from the old MW2 should return.

What maps are you talking about? Henderson writes in his article about four maps that should return in Modern Warfare 2. These are Highrise, Quarry, Terminal and Afghan. All four maps have already achieved legendary status among “Call of Duty” nostalgics. Accordingly, the anticipation of many fans of the old maps is extremely high.

Modern Warfare 2: Map Leak – these maps are returning

When do the maps come into play? There is no precise information on this yet. However, there were voices from insider circles that claimed that the classic maps would not be available immediately with the release of Modern Warfare 2. The maps from MW2 should also be integrated into the Warzone 2 map. So it would make sense if the maps for the release of Warzone 2 would appear in the course of a season.

How credible is the leak? The leak to the classic maps that should return in Modern Warfare 2 seems very likely. On the one hand, because Tom Henderson has proven to be reliable on numerous occasions. On the other hand, other reliable insiders have also confirmed the map leak for Modern Warfare 2.
