Buy PS5 from PlayStation Direct: With these tips, you can get the console from Sony

PlayStation Direct is a permanent fixture when it comes to PS5 and regularly makes numerous gamers happy. Here are some tips for a successful purchase.

Hamburg, Germany – Sony’s in-house PS5 sale, PlayStation Direct, has emerged as a genuine replenishment guarantor when it comes to PS5 replenishment shortly after the service’s launch. But if you want to buy a PS5 there, you have to pay attention to a few subtleties. Here are a few tips to help you understand exactly what PS Direct is all about.

On which days should you pay more attention? There are no fixed days at PS Direct. But the good thing is: the sale is usually announced (at least) one day in advance by email.

At what time should you pay more attention? In Germany, the time window between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for closed sales has emerged as the time. But Sony always communicates the time for a drop in advance.

There are these types of sales: PlayStation Direct focuses on closed, invitation-based sales for registered users. After that, however, there were already a few open sales for all interested parties who were willing to buy. However, this has not happened in the last few months.

Buy PS5 from PlayStation Direct – The requirements

Must-haves to buy from PS Direct: You absolutely need an account with Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) (even in the case of an open sale!). It’s the same account you use to sign in to your PlayStation console.

You have to do this before a drop: If you want to get a PS5 via PlayStation Direct, you first have to register with PlayStation Direct with a PSN account register for sale – in advance of an action. A one-time registration should suffice and also apply to other actions at PS Direct, as long as you have not yet received an invitation from Sony. Once you have registered, all you have to do is wait and hope that you will be selected to participate.

How do I even get to sell? As soon as the next PS Direct sale is due, Sony will inform randomly selected participants from the pool of registered accounts about the upcoming PS5 drop. The whole thing usually happens one day before the actual start of sales – by e-mail. It also contains the link to the respective sale. So check your inbox regularly, including the spam folder. Because if you miss the invitation to an appointment, you can’t just make up for it with the next campaign.

How drops work: If you have been selected and have received a corresponding email, then you can buy a PlayStation 5 directly from Sony in the event of a closed sale on the specified date. You end up in a queue, but it usually doesn’t last long—even if you’re initially told it’s an hour or more to wait. This information usually jumps to a much more humane value after a few minutes. Then you look for a product from PS5 with drive, as a digital edition or as one of the two official Horizon bundles and then pay for the whole thing.

If there is an open sale afterwards or, for example, on the following day, a countdown is started in advance, which expires at the beginning of the upcoming campaign. Then there’s a 30-minute queue while prospective buyers get a randomly drawn spot on the sale. After that you can buy the PS5 – provided that the stock lasts until it is your turn.

Payment Methods: Get current one Credit card or, as of recently, alternatively PayPal, is mandatory (even in the case of an open sale!). However, Sony is apparently working on offering other payment methods in the future.

Can I buy from PS Direct abroad? No, even if you have an account abroad, delivery can only be made to an address in that country. A German delivery address cannot be selected with a foreign PSN account.

Can you increase the chances of success in PlayStation Direct? In short: no. It is still not known which criteria Sony uses when selecting participants for a PlayStation Direct sale. While it is suspected that this will be done at random and that loyal, active PlayStation users (such as those with a current PS Plus membership) will be favored, this is all pure speculation to this day. Solid facts are not available. Apart from registering with PlayStation Direct, you can’t do anything – as of now – that would noticeably increase the chances of an invitation.
