Twitch Streamer Addicted to Diablo Immortal – “I Can Spend Continuously”

Twitch Streamer Addicted to Diablo Immortal - "I Can Spend Continuously"

Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek has discovered Diablo Immortal and just can’t stop. He calls his behavior “damn ridiculous” and even asks about possible therapies for “microtransactions in mobile games”.

Who is the streamer?

  • With 10.1 million followers, 14,000 average viewers and 4,100 subscribers, shroud is one of the most successful and largest streamers on Twitch.
  • He was a successful past pro Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player for esports team Cloud9. However, the streamer has turned his back on e-sports and is now playing various games such as Valorant, World of Warcraft or Lost Ark.
  • Especially for Lost Ark he developed a real addiction. At first he didn’t want to play the MMORPG and ended up spending around 1,800 euros on the game.
  • For its part, Lost Ark has apparently been succeeded by Blizzard’s latest MMORPG: Diablo Immortal. He just can’t stop doing that and has already invested a lot of money, although he completely agrees with the Pay2Win allegations.

The criticism and allegations against Diablo Immortal

Although Diablo Immortal started with good reviews and the beta was well received by fans, the game is currently heavily criticized. It is currently struggling with Pay2Win allegations in the endgame. For example, the legendary gems for improving equipment are far too expensive and a rare one, with the category 5 out of 5 stars, is far too rare if you don’t spend any money.

Twitch streamer Asmongold also criticized Diablo Immortal and spent over 320 euros to show how great the advantage of the paying player is over the non-paying players. In a tweet he showed again ingame how much the drop from a dungeon differs between Pay2Win and Free2Play:

  • Pay2Win-Run: He spent about 18 euros and received a large chest with a lot of golden loot.
  • Free2Play-Run: He didn’t get a chest and almost no valuable loot.

shroud plunges into the next addiction

What did shroud say? In previous streams, the streamer emphasized how addicted he is to Diablo Immortal: “Listen, I’m on everyone else’s side. The only difference is I have a problem and I can’t stop paying for it (via Twitter).”

Shroud also says that the mobile MMORPG is Pay2Win, but he just can’t stop it. “Damn, they got me. you got me But I agree with you on the thoughts about the game. I agree with you, but I can’t fucking stop.”

“There’s got to be therapy for something like microtransactions in mobile games, there’s got to be a thing, right?” he asked his viewers before falling silent for a long moment and then chuckling. Incidentally, the stream was titled “I WON’T OPEN IMMORTALLY.”

In addition, shroud compared Diablo Immortal to Lost Ark and was able to take something positive from it: “One thing I like is that there is no limit. I can spend money continuously.”

shroud’s Twitch clip about Lost Ark and Diablo Immortal:

Shroud continued, “It really pissed me off in Lost Ark where I was being forced to quit and I just didn’t have any more money to spend. That annoyed me. It’s my money, let me spend as much as I want, please.”

What is the monetary limit of Lost Ark? The MMORPG only allowed players to spend $400 per day. That was probably too strict for shroud.
