Fortnite makes you work harder for the Battle Pass – why the extra grind?

Since the new 3rd season in Fortnite started, the players are not only celebrating the relaxed atmosphere, but also new items. However, what doesn’t go over well is the change in terms of XP gain and how it’s throttled again. We give you a plausible reason why that could be.

Why are Fortnite players so obsessed with XP? Every player in Fortnite not only strives for epic victories in the ongoing battles, but also for a lot of XP for the least possible effort. The collected XP is necessary to level up the new Battle Pass and after level 100 to get the coveted additional styles of some skins.

To do this, players take advantage of the weekly and daily tasks that Epic Games provides them with. The problem in Season 3, however, is that the amount of experience points has been reduced without reason and Battle Royal fans now have to work harder for their skins.

Less XP for more grind, and for good reason

What is the probable cause of the grind? Despite the good mood, the new 3rd season in Chapter 3 has caused outrage because the XP that can be obtained has been reduced. So not only do you get less XP from the quests provided, you also have to earn an extra 5,000 XP to level up.

Too much XP in such a relaxed season

Many players suspect that Epic Games is forcing players to buy their level boosts just to get through the Battle Pass.

But if you take a closer look at the duration of this season, you will notice that Season 3 is about a month longer than Season 2 Chapter 3. So that the players do not finish the Battle Pass so quickly, an adjustment may have been necessary here. As a result, fans of the BR shooter will have more to log in for in the long term.

Could it really be because of the extended season? No one knows for sure, as Epic Games has not released a statement about the change. The reddit user Josh72112 has already calculated the XP methods for previous seasons and clarified that Season 3 offers one of the worst grinds that Chapter 3 has to offer at the moment. He means the following:

This change was not necessary under any circumstances, it almost seems as if you [Epic Games] planning a longer season and therefore have decided to increase the XP requirements without really considering it (for example you made this season 39% longer than the 7.5% more XP), in theory this should work fine, but in In practice, weekend players are left with little opportunity to advance, making the time it takes to complete the Battle Pass or reach level 200 a chore for most players who already had methods for gaining XP now exploit additional methods.

Says Josh72112 in his reddit post

Will Epic Games make an adjustment? Epic Games has often given away free XP boosts and weekends mid-season to keep players happy.

In addition, Epic Games always throws different events with many quests into the BR shooter so that players have different ways to get their precious XP.

With the season just beginning, fans can only wait and see. In the past, Epic Games has often been insightful and still given players the desired amount of experience points with many quests.

What do you think of the current situation in Fortnite? Do you think it’s fair that Epic Games cut the XP because of the extended season or is that a cheek? Let us know how you feel about it in the comments!
