Black Desert’s new PvP mode renders the best gear useless – and everyone’s celebrating

Black Desert gear arena

With the June 8 patch, Black Desert got PvP arenas. In these you do not fight with your equipment from the open world, but get special PvP gear. This eliminates the advantage that many grinders otherwise have in PvP. The new arena is correspondingly well received.

What is this innovation in PvP? The big highlight of the new update is the Arena of Solare, where you fight 3v3 against other players:

  • As a team, you try to win three out of five rounds. A round lasts a maximum of three minutes. If a team is not completely defeated in this time, then the team that has the higher percentage of life points overall wins.
  • In the arena itself you have special equipment. This can be saved in different templates and improved over time.
  • You cannot use potions, buff food, or other consumable items in the arena. Even higher levels do not bring any stat advantage.
  • Overall healing from abilities in the arena is reduced by 50%.
  • The arena can be entered automatically via a match search.
  • At the start there are three different battlefields in a random selection. All matches are played here. In the arenas there are secondary objects such as a healing orb or a torch that increases attack power for 30 seconds.

Right at the start there is a pre-season with a ranking. Everyone starts with 1,150 points and you earn points for wins and lose points for losses or if you don’t play in the arena for several days in a row. The highest rank – Solar Incarnate V – requires 2,401 points or more.

What is the requirement to enter the arena? You need level 60 and completion of the Succession/Awakening quests to participate in the PvP battles in the Arena of Solare. In our level guide, we reveal how you can quickly reach level 60.

In addition, there is currently a restriction in the time. The arena can only be entered from 17:00 to 24:00 and you cannot use seasonal characters for it.

“Finally the day has come when we can enjoy the battles in BDO”

How exactly does the equipment work? Equipment plays an important role in previous PvP content such as outpost battles, the “Red Battlefield” or open-world PvP. Anyone who grinds a lot or uses real money for upgrades is significantly stronger than any newcomer or veteran who does not invest that much time.

In the new PvP arena you get special equipment that only works there. At the beginning you have access to basic stats and crystals. Over time, you’ll collect the new Seals of Solare currency, which you can use to unlock new equipment and new crystals.

This new equipment offers different effects or strengthens other attributes.

How does the arena arrive? Really good. Both in reddit and on YouTube, the players roll over with praise. This is mainly due to the standardized equipment:

  • Cynikuu can’t believe his luck on reddit: “Is it finally the day when we can enjoy the action-packed combat in Black Desert without spending 12 hours a day grinding mobs in circles? Truly a miracle!”
  • The player Original_HD has already had good experiences: “I’ve enjoyed every match so far, even with people who didn’t know how to play PvP… Please, dear experienced players, don’t be too toxic to new people entering the PvP scene . We want this to be big so Pearl Abyss recognizes the BDO community’s interest in PvP.”
  • User LordBaneGaming writes on YouTube: “Finally. I’ve been saying for years that what Black Desert needs is: balanced gear. Yay!”.

What are the critics saying? So far, there has been criticism mainly for individual bugs and the low rewards in the arena. There are also some players who find the strong control effects (crowd control) in the game annoying. However, this is also experienced in other Black Desert PvP content.

What do you think of the new PvP arena? Does the concept appeal to you and could you see yourself starting or going back to Black Desert because of that? Feel free to write it in the comments.

Only in April did the MMORPG get a new expansion that had a lot to offer, especially for newcomers and PvE fans:
