Pokemon GO: How to solve “Fight alongside your buddy while you’re on the go”

In Pokémon GO you can encounter one or the other new task in field research in June. One of them is “Fight alongside your buddy while you’re on the road”. We at MeinMMO show you how you can solve this quest.

What is this task? If you spin the photo discs of PokéStops in Pokémon GO, you will receive so-called field research. These are tasks that are shown to you in the “Field” view of the game and that give you a reward when you solve them.

Each month, Niantic revises these tasks and rewards or adds them to special events. You can now encounter the quest “Fight alongside your buddy while on the road” in June’s Field Research. We’ll show you what to look out for when solving.

So you can solve the new quest with your buddy

What is special about this task? So far, the tasks around the buddy have included interacting, going for a walk together or finding a certain number of candies. Now you should also go into battle with your buddy. But solving the task is not that easy.

If you look around on social networks, it quickly becomes clear that not every possibility of fighting in the game will also solve the task. So that you don’t have any major problems with it, we’ll show you how it works.

You have to keep this in mind when solving the quest “Fight alongside your buddy while you’re on the road”.

Solving this quest works according to the attempts of the reddit community obviously only in GO Battle League battles or in training against team leaders Blanche, Candela or Spark. To do this, you must first take your buddy on an exploration tour and then carry out one of the fights mentioned together with him.

So the best way to solve it is as follows:

1. Feed your buddy so that he is finally on the environment map and goes exploring with you.
2. Open the menu via the Poké Ball button and click on “Fights”.
3. Now you can either join a battle in the GO Battle League or do a training battle against one of the team leaders.
4. GO Battle League: Under GO Battle League, press the Battle button. Now you can select a league and then put together your team. Here you have to choose your buddy in any case. It’s best to use it as the first Pokémon.
5. Training Battle: Scroll all the way down the page until you see the portraits of Blanche, Candela and Spark. Choose one of the three and then select the league. Now you can add your buddy to your team selection.
6. Now carry out the respective fight and you have already completed the task.

Danger: If you have a buddy with a high CP number, then depending on the value, it cannot be used in all leagues. Depending on which league is currently active in the GO Battle League, it is possible that you cannot use your Pokémon in battle at all. In this case you have to resort to the training battle. There are the following WP limits:

• Super League up to 1,500 WP per Pokémon
• Hyper League up to 2,500 WP per Pokémon
• Master League unlimited CP per Pokemon

How about other fights? Other battles, such as arena battles or battles against Team GO Rocket, have not been counted for this quest so far, according to the comments on reddit. The task could not be solved even with PvP battles between two friendly trainers. So you should rather use the GO Battle League or Training Battles to solve them.

What reward awaits you? If you have solved the quest, you will be rewarded with an encounter with Smogon or Bluzuk. With a bit of luck, you might even come across a dazzling specimen.

Are there more such new tasks to the buddy?

Another Buddy quest available as part of Adventure Week is “Earn 3 Candy by exploring with your Buddy”. However, this is basically just a different formulation than the well-known task of going for a walk with your buddy and collecting sweets.

How to solve this quest? Just like with the fight quest, you should feed your buddy first and take it with you on a journey of discovery. Now all you have to do is run until your monster has found the desired number of candies.

This can vary depending on the Pokémon, as each monster has to travel a different distance to find a Candy. Some Pokémon only have to travel 1 km, while others have to travel 3 km, 5 km or even 20 km.

Use this trick: So that you don’t have to be on the road forever to collect the required candies, you should first look through your buddy chronicle. You may have already covered a large part of the distance with a Pokémon in the past and only need a few meters to the next candy.

In this case, it is best to use a Knursp in advance for feeding. This lets your buddy find a candy after half the distance. So if you are only a few meters away from reaching the original distance, you will receive two candies.

If you don’t have a Pokémon in your buddy history that you can use for this, then you should fall back on a monster with a short range. Pokemon like Rattfratz or Taubebsi are ideal here because they only have to walk 1 km to find a candy.

What reward is there? If you solve this task, then during the adventure week you will get an encounter with Galapaflos or Flapteryx, which with a bit of luck can also be dazzling.
