Xbox: Five first-party games are to be released by summer 2023

Microsoft plans to release at least five first-party games for the Xbox next year. The company is already “on the right track” to implement this plan.

Xbox provides game replenishment

Five new games from first-party studios would equal or exceed the previous 12-month release output. In the current financial year between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, the company has launched five forest party titles so far.

The five titles from the upcoming fiscal year are Microsoft Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Age of Empires IV, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite. If there isn’t another one in the next few weeks, it will stay with these five.

In a press briefing held this week, the company said, “We are on track to meet or exceed that amount in the next fiscal year.”

These titles could be among the new five

We already know a few of the upcoming first-party titles for the coming fiscal year, as Starfield and Redfall have been pushed into that exact window – the first half of 2023, to be precise. Three more slots are still free for games that are to be published before June 30, 2023.

Taking it very loosely, that could also include Bethesda’s two titles, Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo, as they’ll be coming to Xbox once their exclusive deals with PlayStation expire. But also new titles that do not yet have a fixed release date, such as Avowed, Hellblade 2, Forza Motorsport or State of Decay 3 could theoretically be meant.

Perhaps there will be some insight into this at the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Showcases on Sunday June 12th.
