Layers of Fears: Popular horror series continues

Blooper Team still has paint on the brush: The psychological horror of the Layers of Fear series continues. Thanks to Unreal Engine 5, the new Layers of Fears wants to drive you crazy with a classy look.

In collaboration with Anshar Studios, the busy Polish developer studio (Observer, Blair Witch, The Medium) is at work on the third part of the dark adventure series, which is all about the obsessed artist, sanity and horror behind the screens. Suddenly burning family portraits, endless corridors full of chains, leaden melancholy here, terror sound there – you can see that and a little more in the brand new trailer below.

Tangible information about the game, on the other hand, is still scarce: Bloober Team promises a “Psychedelic first-person horror story with a focus on exciting exploration and a compelling story. (…) Layers of Fears takes you on a complete, final and at the same time unpredictable journey, into the stories of artists who fell victim to their passion. Prepare yourself for an extraordinary horror experience whose overarching storyline will be cast in a new light by the expanded story arcs.”

Of course, the promised use of the Unreal Engine 5 is exciting. The two predecessors looked chic, but part 3 will probably put the crown on it – we can expect the use of the Lumen lighting technology and HDR effects. Layers of Fear is due out early in 2023 for PC (Steam plus Epic), PS5, and the Xbox Series consoles.
