Pokémon GO is bringing back level 4 raids for Community Day - but there's one big caveat

In a few days, the next Community Day will take place in Pokémon GO, which will bring you back a special form of level 4 raids. We at MeinMMO have looked at what kind of raids will be, what restrictions there will be and what the trainers have to say about it.

What kind of event is it? On June 25, 2022, the Community Day with Kapuno runs in Pokémon GO. The Dark and Dragon Pokémon from the 5th generation of games, as you know them from other C-Days, will be found everywhere in the wild.

In addition to the numerous spawns of the rather rare Pokémon and some bonuses, the event has another special feature in store for you: level 4 raids. But these will run a little differently than you are currently used to from other raids and therefore also have a major limitation. We’ll show you what to expect.

When does C-Day and the Raids take place? While the actual Community Day with Kapuno runs on June 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time, you will find the Level 4 Raids directly afterwards from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time be able.

These are the June Community Day level 4 raids

What are these raids? In Pokémon GO you can participate in different raids with different levels of difficulty. While there have only been raid levels 1, 3, 5 and Mega since the end of 2022, a raid boss should now return to the level 4 raids for the first time.

You can meet Duodino, the further development of Kapuno, as part of the Community Day in June. But that’s not all, because not everyone can take part in the raids as usual. Again, you will be rewarded with a special bonus if you play these raids.

What are the limitations? Unlike the other raids, you can only join the level 4 raid on site. Participation with the help of a long-distance raid pass is therefore not possible. In keeping with the Season of GO, Niantic would like to lure you outside again.

Like before the popular long-distance raids were introduced, you will have to go straight to the arena and use a Raid Pass or Premium Raid Pass to participate.

Earn a special bonus: In addition to defeating the raid boss, another special bonus awaits you. After the raid, you unlock more Kapuno spawns for 30 minutes, 300 meters around the arena. The same shiny chance should apply as during the three-hour Community Day.

Contrary to the first event announcement in the game, there should be no minimum number of trainers to earn this bonus. You can basically also play in smaller groups (via twitter.com).

How hard is a level 4 raid? Even in the past, level 4 raids were relatively difficult to do alone. Niantic has now announced in a statement on Twitter that the 4-raids with Duodino should be a little more difficult.

So they recommend bringing at least 2-5 other trainers with you. It remains to be seen how difficult the raids will actually be and whether you can even defeat Duodino alone.

Trainers wonder “Are you kidding?”

The return of level 4 raids is a big topic on social media. Above all, the restriction on the use of long-distance raid passes is criticized, because some trainers are hardly networked with other players on site, which is why they cannot arrange raids.

So you can make the following comments in the reddit community around TheSilphRoad such as in the subreddit Find:

  • Starwars9629-: “Where should I find other trainers?”
  • Plus-Pomegranate8045: “Ahhh yes, the mythical creatures known as ‘other trainers’. I have a better chance of meeting Bigfoot”
  • bobnbill: “Their solution to the problem they created (return to 3 hour community days, i.e. less accessible to many people due to work, weather, location, etc.) is to get people to raid in groups ( i.e. spending money) to extend the event by 30 minutes at a time, at a specific location. Because that’s the best way to preserve the magic of such events. I’m unimpressed.”
  • Worried_Patience_117: “Are you kidding?”
  • Baron: “Maybe all this in-person raiding crap would make some sense if Niantic tried to make it easier to connect to other trainers or somehow route trainers to the same arenas. I see household names in arenas, and sometimes when I attack an arena these people actually lunge at it, but without running around in a 4 block radius yelling loudly I will never know who these people are.

10 arenas in that 4 block radius and 3 raids in progress, even if people all went out in a 20 minute period to do a personal raid there is a 0.05% chance that all players would gather at the same arena and engage in combat in the same 2-minute window. Everyone just passes each other in this game like ships in the night.”

  • HexOfTheRitual: “I’m a solo player in a rural setting, I’ve literally never seen another player raid near me. RIP.”

As becomes clear from the reactions of the community, a lack of communication with other trainers in the game plays a decisive role. Because the community has been asking for an in-game chat in Pokémon GO for years. It remains to be seen whether Niantic will integrate this into the game in the future.

What do you think of the new level 4 raids? Are you well connected in your local community and can you do the raids without any problems? Or are you more on your own and are you having trouble finding other players? Feel free to write us your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.

There is still a lot to do in Pokémon GO in the coming weeks. We’ll show you all the events in June and which ones are worth attending.
