Radeon RX 6700 without XT: Sapphire Pulse appeared with new GPU

from Valentin Sattler
Pictures of a new graphics card called Radeon 6700 have appeared on the web, which is to be launched without the XT and RX. The technical data fit perfectly into the gap between the RX 6600 XT and the RX 6700 XT.

Both AMD and Nvidia use not only a product number for their graphics cards, but also an optional designation as a “Ti” or “XT” model to denote a faster variant. But while all mid-range and high-end graphics cards are also offered as Ti models with the RTX 3000 graphics cards, there is a gap with the RX 6000 graphics cards: the RX 6600 XT is followed directly by the RX 6700 XT – an RX 6700 without XT is missing so far.

Sapphire Radeon RX 6700 Pulse

However, according to Twitter user “MEGAsizeGPU” (@Zed__Wang), this gap may be closed soon. Yesterday he published four pictures showing the product box of a Sapphire Radeon 6700 Pulse and a corresponding GPU-Z screenshot. Interestingly, in contrast to the Radeon RX 6700 XT Pulse box, not only is the “XT” missing, but also the “RX”. Compared to the other RDNA2 graphics cards, that would be a novelty.

It is unclear why AMD should do without the RX prefix on the Radeon 6700 of all things. But the prefix is also missing in the GPU-Z screenshot. If this is an error, it would currently not only be on the box, but also in the BIOS of the graphics card. In addition, of course, as is always the case with such rumours, it cannot be ruled out that the data and images were simply falsified.

At least the other data of the Radeon 6700 read quite realistically. Accordingly, the graphics card should rely on a trimmed Navi 22 GPU and, with 2,304 shaders, fill the gap between the Radeon RX 6600 XT (2,048 shaders) and the Radeon RX 6700 XT (2,560 shaders). The model would also be in the middle between the two graphics cards that are already available in terms of memory expansion (10 GB) and the memory interface (160 bit).

It is unclear if and when the Radeon 6700 will be launched. In this context, the Videocardz website refers to the BC-2235 mining graphics card, which is already being sold with the identical specifications. Accordingly, it would be possible that Sapphire is looking for buyers for corresponding GPUs and is therefore – with AMD’s permission – bringing them onto the market via this detour. But that is not guaranteed.
