Resident Evil Village: Demo version can be played in the browser

Finally any news on the DLC for Resident Evil Village? - Capcom Showcase announced (1)

As we reported earlier this year, Google Stadia may not have performed as well as the company had hoped. So instead of continuing to rely on its own ecosystem of video games, Google decided to make their technology available to other developers. At that time there were probably already discussions with publisher Capcom, who wanted to offer demos for their games directly on their own website.

Meanwhile, Google published the so-called “Immersive Stream for Games,” and one of the early adopters of this technology is Capcom. The company recently released a new demo version of Resident Evil: Village (buy now ). This does not contain any new content than the demo that is already available, but it can be used play comfortably in your browser. At least if you use Google Chrome or Safari.

The browser demo supports both PlayStation and Xbox controllers, in addition to keyboard and mouse, and runs at 1080p. While HDR isn’t supported and the overall graphics don’t look as pretty as they do on a modern home console, this in-browser demo is definitely an impressive piece of technology. Capcom recommends an internet speed of 10 Mbps or higher to play the demo comfortably.
