Nintendo Switch Update 14.1.2. is live and I can recite the patch notes in my sleep

An update is available on the Nintendo Switch for you to download. To do this, turn on your console and if the device is connected to the internet, the download should start automatically. Alternatively, you can also go to the settings and start the process here via “System” and “System Update”.

The patch notes for update 14.1.2 consist of just one sentence: “General system stability optimizations to improve user experience” (via Nintendo). In short: The console and some games should run more smoothly now. From time to time there are other small changes in such an update that are not communicated. The coming days will therefore show whether this is also the case here.

No big changes for the time being: It’s no surprise that the patch comes with only small changes. In March, Nintendo released the massive 14.0 update that finally introduced folders to the Switch. This was followed by update 14.1, which made earning platinum points easier, and update 1.4.1. It may be quite a while before the next extensive update, i.e. 15.0.

The next Nintendo Direct is coming up

If there isn’t any major news in terms of hardware, there may be soon in terms of software. Several insiders assume that Nintendo will hold an extensive Direct in June. Apparently there is even a specific date: June 29th.

And what is shown? Of course, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 tops the list. Other candidates include a new Fire Emblem (not Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes), a Metroid Prime remaster, and a bundle consisting of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Zelda: Twilight Princess.
