I wouldn't mind if Capcom really did announce Dragon's Dogma 2 on Friday

Guys, I believe there will be good news later this week. While last night’s Capcom Showcase didn’t give any news per se about a possible Dragon’s Dogma sequel, director Hideaki Itsuno thanked fans on the occasion of the tenth anniversary.

And then he pointed to the game’s YouTube channel for Thursday night at 12:00 am to look out for a video message from the team. Nothing new has appeared on it for a year.

So will we get any news or confirmation of Dragon’s Dogma 2 later this week? So far, we only know that the game supposedly exists because of the ransomware attack on Capcom. However, rumors were already circulating after Devil May Cry 5 was completed.

i still love it

It is clear that Itsuno already posted pictures of himself and the team for the new project in 2019. In addition, he has already stated that he would very much like to work on a new Dragon’s Dogma. This severely limits the possible content of a video message aimed at fans of the series.

Well, it would be odd that Capcom wouldn’t go straight to the big show for such an announcement. Then again, a Dragon’s Dogma 2 from the director of Devil May Cry definitely deserves its own podium.

And then, as always, it is of course also possible that “only” some new edition or anniversary additional content will be shown next Friday, which would of course be a shame.

Climbing on the enemies and taking them apart piece by piece was just spectacular. I also like the simple but logical physics system and the beautiful lighting.

Ultimately, I’m confident as to the substance of the upcoming video message that we could at least see a “Hey, we’re working on Dragon’s Dogma 2” along with maybe some artwork or pictures.

And that would be fantastic. Dragon’s Dogma has been one of those ugly ducklings that has been able to convince most people through the back door. But all the more for that. A huge, mysterious medieval fantasy open world with spectacular, Japanese-influenced brawler fights, cool character development and an interesting companion AI. Even the magic skills were fantastic to play and look at.

The title really was something very special, which is why it’s no surprise that over the years it made the leap to PC, PS4, Xbox One and finally the Switch. Oh dear… they’re only showing a next-gen update of the first part on Friday, aren’t they?
