Stalker 2: Officially postponed to 2023 due to new trailer

Stalker 2 postponed to next year, will be released in June 2023 at the latest (1)

As announced a few days ago by those responsible at Xbox for the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will unfortunately no longer be released in 2022. The release period has now been set to 2023, according to Xbox the game should however, will appear in June 2023 at the latest.

Stalker 2 is now officially postponed

As the developers behind Stalker 2, GSC Game World, explained, this announcement came a little early on the part of Xbox. They actually wanted to officially unveil the delay later, which they did on June 14, 2022. The shift came with a new in-engine trailer that showcased a few scenes from the game. For example, we see a military truck driving down a road at night, there’s a couple of mentions of “The Zone”, and there’s also a supernatural looking storm. All relatively normal for a Stalker game, but the scenes shown all look really, really pretty, and I guess it only makes you look forward to the title even more.

At the end of the trailer we will then find out the new release period of 2023. The game will be released for both PC and Xbox Series X | S, and will also be available in Game Pass at the time of publication. We last heard from GSC Game World that they have resumed work on Stalker 2 after the project was put on hold due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. With the release date set for December 8th, 2022 prior to this news, it was probably quite clear that the title would be getting another delay.

on Steam a release period of December 2023 is given, which does not match Xbox’s announcement that all games shown would be released within the next twelve months. However, this might just be a placeholder.
