Even though E3 is canceled this year, there are still plenty of game announcements for us, thanks in no small part to the Summer Game Fest. As part of this, Microsoft is also holding the ID@Xbox Summer Game Fest demo event for the third time in a row, which allows you to test lots of upcoming games on your Xbox console.

  • From when to when does the event run? From June 21st to June 27th
  • You can play on these consoles: Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S

Over 30 game demos to try

Xbox has yet to announce the full list of games, but we already know that we can expect over 30 demos of upcoming titles. Unlike normal demos of often (almost) finished games, these test versions provide insights into titles that are still in the middle of development. So once the demos disappear from the Xbox Dashboard late next week, many won’t be returning, so make sure you use the time to try them out if you’re particularly interested in a title.

Correspondingly, Xbox calls in their blog entry for the event that you can give the developers feedback on their games and exchange ideas with them.

Some of the games included in Xbox’s demo event include:

Batora: Lost Haven

Batora Lost Haven: Gameplay of Hack and Slash and Twin Stick Shooter

You slip into the role of Avril, whose home planet has been destroyed and who must now use her mystical powers to save her planet after all. Not only do you have to make tough decisions, you also have to keep an eye on Avril’s health – yes, you read that right, she has a health bar for both her body and her mind.

That’s what it’s about: Severed Steel is an action-packed single-player shooter with a very special mechanic: you play a one-armed protagonist, which means that you cannot reload in the heat of the moment. If you run out of ammo, you’ll have to somehow get hold of a new weapon instead.

You can get a detailed look at the game here:
