In Season 17, a new week in Destiny 2 starts today and it is already casting its infectious shadows ahead. As players observe strange changes in the air, they must uncover the dark secret of a Cabal Empress. MeinMMO has equipped itself with anti-spore spray and reveals what awaits you this week.

This is happening this week: Having already “transformed” Crow’s and Zavala’s nightmare into the ongoing storyline in Destiny 2, Ghaul, the nightmare of the Cabal Empress Caiatl, may be in store for them this week.

Caiatl is currently trying to maintain the blockade around Calus Leviathan with her ships while she waits for his next turn. She is hellbent on finding her father and putting an end to him once and for all – but more and more of her army’s cabal are defecting to him. At the moment it is not clear where Calus is exactly. Has he merged with the transformed Leviathan, or is he hiding in the understructure of his once opulent battleship?

Is the HELM, the Vanguard’s airborne base of operations, already infected?

But as if that wasn’t enough, a menacing infection also appears to be afoot. The Empress’ troops not only defect, but also appear to be infected with the mysterious Egregor Spores of Darkness. Strange particles have been buzzing through the air on the HELM, the advance guard’s operations center, for a week now. Does this change your mind?

Are not only the Cabal but even the Guardians already infected? While players may find that out soon, of course, there’s more Destiny 2 activity to look forward to this week as well.

Vanguard: Dawn – The Crucible

The Dawn: The Crucible is this week’s Strike:

  • The twisted pillaron Nessus
    • The Red Legion have begun drilling into The Twisted Pillar in hopes of studying and weaponizing Protheon, the Vex Module spirit. But the Vex reacted violently, causing a war zone to erupt near the drilling sites. The Vanguard sends out Guardians to destroy Protheon before the Red Legion can capture the Vex Mind.

This week’s Dusk Weapon: In the 5th season week of the “Season of the Haunted” you can earn a special twilight weapon.

Endgame: Raid challenges and dungeon rotation

This happens in the latest raid “The student’s oath“:

  • This week in the Vow of the Apprentice raid is the “defense down”. This raid challenge requires you to kill only one Taken Knight with your relic.
  • As a reward for completing the challenge in the third stage of the Grandmaster Raid this week, there is a chance for a Master version of the Submachine Gun Submission or the Redemption Fusion Rifle. But keep in mind that hard and normal mode share the loot.

You get additional top rewards from the endgame:

  • in the Last Wish raid in the Dreaming City
  • as well as in the matching dungeon “The Shattered Throne”

New activities have also come into play with Season 17. Explore the Forsaken Leviathan and face the nightmares or surprise bosses in the new patrol zone. Pull the solar scythe there and defend yourself in the nightmare containment. In addition, these weekly activities await you:
