Fortnite: Streamer with the Most Followers on Twitch Has Floss Candy Trouble – “Blue Haired Greedy Rat”

Daniel Keem Keemstar Title

Gaming influencer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has by far the most followers on the streaming service Twitch. The 31-year-old was particularly successful in 2017 and 2018, when he used the hype surrounding the online shooter Fortnite to become a multi-millionaire and Twitch star. Lately, he’s been attracting attention with deals that monetize his popularity. Now he is involved in a dispute with his former friend Keemstar: He is said to have used his idea in a deal with energy drink manufacturer “GFuel”.

Who has the most followers on Twitch? Ninja has by far the most followers on Twitch:

  • Ninja is number 1 with 18.28 million followers. However, the majority of the followers came in 2018, when he gained 11.89 million followers in the Fortnite hype.
  • Spanish-language streamers Auronplay (12.95 million) and Rubius (11.98 million) are catching up, but they’re still a long way off. It will probably be years before they can really catch up with Ninja.
  • Its early stalwart competitor Tfue (11.07M) and Hothead xQc (10.86M) are growing faster than Ninja, but much slower than the exploding Spanish-language twitch.

How’s Ninja today? Even if Ninja has so many followers, it is no longer as popular as it once was: Ninja is only ranked 366 worldwide by the average viewer. While his foray into Twitch competitor Mixer has made him wealthy, it’s also cost him a lot of his relevance in gaming.

The success of Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, who is currently playing Fortnite again since the “No Build Mode” was introduced there, has also faded with the hype surrounding Fortnite, but has mainly turned to LoL in recent years.

Today, Ninja is best known for building such a big number 4 years ago and a big name that he’s now monetizing. He offers a “master class for €200” on how to become a successful streamer.

In addition, he is constantly entering into new advertising deals. Currently with the brand “GFUEL”. Here he introduces his “very own brand, NINJA cotton candy”.

Ninja Introduces “It’s Flavor of Its Own”: Ninja Cotton Candy.

Gaming influencer accuses Ninja of stealing “his flavor” from him

What is he accused of now? Controversial gaming influencer Daniel “Keemstar” Keem has accused Ninja of copying the cotton candy flavor in his deal with energy drink brand Gfuel. But that’s Keemstar’s brand (via twitter):

It’s not that Ninja copied my taste because the greedy rat knew people wanted my taste back. It’s about other stuff.

Fuck that blue haired greedy rat who sent his wife to talk to me instead of coming herself. We’ve been friends since 2017 – aren’t friends now!”

He goes to GFuel and says: “I want cotton candy!

Keemstar apparently feels cheated: In a video (via twitter) explains to Keemstar that he and Ninja have been close friends for 5 years. He defended and encouraged Ninja in every controversy.

But now he went to GFUEL and said: “I want cotton candy”.

Behind this is the ice-cold calculation of the Blevins. Because his fans, the fans of Keemstar, have been demanding for years to bring back the “candy floss” flavor. Therefore, the Blevins probably knew that the flavor would sell well.

Had Ninja personally asked him to do the cotton candy flavor, Keemstar would have agreed. But it all happened behind his back – Keemstar doesn’t seem to understand that. That is incredibly disrespectful.

Instead of asking for permission to take over the brand, Ninja’s wife, Jessica Blevins, just called him and informed him about the takeover of the brand. Attempts by Keemstar to reach Ninja personally and clarify the story man-to-man failed:

I’ve talked to a lot of creators. Everyone agreed: he’s a rat if he did it like that. I then calmed down and said to myself, okay, let me talk to Ninja himself. As I call him several times – no answer. Fuck that blue haired freak. We’re done. i hate the guy I unfollowed him, I unfollowed his bitchy little wife. We’re done!

Keemstar loses cooperation with GFuel because it’s too controversial

This is the history: On 13.6. GFuel released an announcement that they are bringing the new flavor “Ninja Cotton Candy” to select Walmart stores in the US. This is the first GFUEL brand to be inspired by Ninja itself. Cotton candy suits Ninja’s “wild and unpredictable personality.” (via Gfuel)

However, the “Cotton Candy” flavor was not new to GFuel: Gaming influencer Keemstar had originally established “cotton candy” as a flavor at GFUE back in 2018.

However, GFuel ended his collaboration with Keemstar in 2020 amid allegations that he played a role in the death of YouTuber Etika and made a spectacle of the man’s growing mania on his show Drama Alert.

In 2018, GFUEL introduced the “Candy Floss” brand with an overjoyed Keemstar.

This is how it is discussed: The Blevins are not commenting on the case.

Overall, Keemstar’s statements are rather amusing on the net. The idea that you could secure the “candy floss” flavor does not make sense to many.

Because cotton candy has been around forever: Of course it’s the best flavor ever, but Keemstar can’t make any claims on it.

The legend says: This is how the idea for drinkable cotton candy was supposed to have come about.

This is behind it: The example of the “dispute” between Keemstar and Ninja shows how rough the influencer’s business is behind the scenes and how fragile such business friendships actually are.

Keemstar is known for fueling controversy and leveraging it for its outreach. However, this turns him into a person who is considered “not firesafe”. It’s a risk for big brands to work with such controversial figures.

Ninja, on the other hand, is considered to be someone who apparently has no great scruples when it comes to advertising deals.
