Medieval Survival RPG Robber Knights: More than 20,000 Steam Demo Downloads

from Thilo Bayer
Prior to Early Access on Steam, the Raubritter developers released a playable demo. More than 20,000 downloads have now been reported, and at the same time the developers are emphasizing that they are implementing player feedback as promptly as possible.

Hardly a day goes by without a more or less interesting game appearing on Steam – whether as an announcement, demo, early access or final release. We have already presented Robber Knights, a medieval mixture of survival, role-playing and co-op.

Successful demo for robber barons

During the Steam Next Festival (and still is), interested players could try a demo, which until 20.06. recorded a good 21,000 downloads. The developers see this as a great success and not only say thank you for the many helpful responses, but also publish a new trailer that is intended to bring the medieval game world a little closer.

The demo started with version 0.20a and has been updated several times – the status on 06/18. is version 0.21c. In the meantime, resources can be collected automatically, among other things, and there is a German translation. The Early Access, which is actually planned for mid-July, should start with version 0.35. With the demo, the developers want to ensure that early access starts without “game breaking bugs”. The demo includes 10% of the game world, 5% of the original population and 15% of the quests offered in Early Access. The demo should continue to be offered and updated at least once a week.

Steam Early Access is designed for a total of 1-2 years. During this time, further features are to be delivered that expand the EA experience, including the expansion into a robber baron stronghold, other special places such as taverns, monasteries, etc. and a PvP scenario. According to the developer, the game world is open, but only a 10-minute walk away if you are not disturbed.

Raubritter wants to offer a bridge between survival sim, RPG and co-op games. The game is played in 1303 on the virtual German-Polish border with a very uncertain regent situation. As a knight you have many challenges. So you have to survive in the forest and build a camp before you can build up your gang of robber barons and spread fear and terror. The role-playing part includes the development of your own character, the base and your own gang. The simulation involves creating and upgrading weapons, expanding the camp and planning and executing raids. You can move your own base so that the guards cannot find you, or you can also expand your defenses.
