Twitch streamer xQc opens loot boxes in CS:GO – is incredibly lucky with valuable skins, can’t get it
félix “xQc” Lengyel (26) opened in the Steam hit Counter Strike: Global Offensive some loot boxes and was incredibly lucky. He received several skins and weapons that were worth several thousand euros. However, he did not immediately realize how valuable the items were.
What are loot boxes in CS:GO? In CS:GO, a trade in cosmetic weapon skins has been established over the years, which players can find in loot boxes, some of which can be sold on the marketplace for absurdly high sums.
The probability of getting good loot boxes in CS:GO is low. You often open one box after the other and still don’t get any special items.
In the end, buying and opening loot boxes is a kind of gamble: you can be very lucky and pull a special skin, but you can also only get “riveters”.
Who is xQc? The Canadian streamer made his name as a professional player in Overwatch in 2016, but now also streams CS:GO and other games. With 10.9 million followers, he is now one of the most successful Twitch streamers in the world.
As you know from a major leak, xQc is also the streamer on Twitch with the highest income from the subscription model.
CS:GO stream: xQc’s winning streak begins
This was the lucky streak: xQc opens old CS:GO weapon crates in a stream. At over €55 per box, these boxes are the most expensive loot box in CS:GO. The top skins of this box are:

- AK-47 Case Hardened
The probability of getting one of the two weapon skins is 1%. In fact, xQc gets two of the rare AWP skins and an AK-47 skin worth over €950. A remarkable record considering that xQc only had eleven loot boxes open at this point.
At first, however, the streamer was not aware that he had just received absolute top skins. Accordingly, xQc reacted emotionlessly to the AWP “Lightning Strike”.

What else did xQc get? Since his return to CS:GO, the streamer has been downright pursued by loot luck. So he got 2 very valuable knives in the last months.
Many knives in CS:GO can be sold for around €100. Some even for several thousand. Depending on the skin and coloring, the price can also increase.
When xQc opened a “Chroma 2” weapon case, he received the “Karambit Marble Fade” knife with the well-known “Fire and Ice” design. It was Factory New and Stat Trak. A combination that is incredibly rare and worth the equivalent of more than €1,900.

When xQc opens another loot box, he receives a karambit knife in the “Crimson Web” design. The streamer initially seems disappointed and even comments on his loot as “garbage”.
The streamer was very lucky again. The skin’s mesh shown was centered on the blade, adding an additional 50% to the price of the weapon. The knife is therefore worth between €1,100 and €1,600.
After all these strokes of luck there was a surprise at the end. xQc received a Stat Trak AK-47 Fire Serpent. Because it was equipped with Stat Trak, the value was around €1,900.

This is behind it: Although xQc was incredibly lucky with its loot boxes, one thing must not be forgotten: in order to get valuable items, you have to spend a lot of money beforehand. The “CS:GO” boxes in particular are quite expensive at over €55.
In the past, xQc showed a disastrous tendency to gamble in online casinos, which went as far as addiction: The streamer recognized his problem and wanted to stop gambling on Twitch.
He was also heavily criticized by other streamers for his gambling streams, saying he was modeling negative behavior on his young audience. xQc also repeatedly warned against gambling, but then gambled away large sums.
If you now look at his €55 spins on loot boxes, the question arises as to whether looting in CS:GO is simply another type of gambling and xQc is falling back into its addiction. In any case, the positive impression that the large audience could get from gambling is problematic.
The fact that expenses usually exceed income and the probability of big wins is negligible can be quickly forgotten in such a lucky streak
You can see from this case that things can be completely different: A CS:GO player bought loot boxes worth €200,000 and was bitterly disappointed.
