Call of the Wild: The Angler - open world fishing with prominent engine

from Jonathan Harsh
Call of the Wild: The Angler is currently drawing attention with a beautiful open world powered by Avalanche Studios’ Apex engine. Up to twelve players can move through the area together and fish comfortably at different lakes.

Many popular video games, from Zelda to Skyrim, have a fishing mini-game built into them. But few dedicated fishing sims end up on the mainstream screen. Call of the Wild: The Angler, coming soon to Steam, could do better. At least the trailer for the game should also attract the attention of those who don’t like fish, because The Angler scores with a beautiful open world, as we would expect in a role-playing game or action-adventure.

Fish together in Call of the Wild: The Angler

The fact that the open game world of Call of the Wild: The Angler makes such a great impression is partly due to the technology used. Expansive Worlds, which previously developed The Hunter: Call of the Wild, uses the well-known Apex engine by Avalanche, which was used to create games like Mad Max, Rage 2 or the Just Cause series. That’s no coincidence, because the team is part of the Avalanche Studios Group. So Call of the Wild: The Angler isn’t just about fishing, it’s about the whole experience around it.

Other interesting games on Steam:

Some anglers enjoy fishing alone, but the pastime can also be a community experience. Apparently, the developers of The Angler also know this, because the title offers open-world co-op for up to twelve players. More information and the system requirements of Call of the Wild: The Angler can be found on the official Steam page of the game.
