The Callisto Protocol: Game Director reveals details on enemy types and combat

from Sarah Petzold
The Game Director of The Callisto Protocol spoke to Gameinformer about the enemies and the fights in the horror game. We summarize the new information that came to light.

After the developers of the horror game The Callisto Protocoll revealed a lot of new information about their title at the Summer Game Fest 2022, the news doesn’t stop. The Gameinformer editorial team spoke to Game Director Glen Schofield about the enemies and combat system of The Callisto Protocol and got some interesting details from him.

Clear statement about fighting in space

Gameinformer editor Matt Miller spoke with Schofield in the Rapid Fire interview and asked him a total of 83 short questions that Schofield was asked to answer just as briefly. Some of the questions were aimed at the horror factor of the game, but some were also aimed at the in-game combat. If you want, you can watch the interview in full on YouTube:

Schofield’s statements about the opponents and the space fight should be particularly interesting for fans. When asked about the number of enemy types, the game director explained that The Callisto Protocol will have ten to eleven different enemy types. However, he left open whether this number also includes the boss opponents or not, and to what extent there will be variants of the individual types.

Schofield’s answer to the question of whether players in The Callisto Protocol will also fight in space was much clearer. The game director commented, “No. They will be out there at times, but not in space.”
So that we won’t be fighting in space, like some of Dead Space did, may be disappointing for some fans. But maybe the developers just want to focus on the essentials – as long as the combat system works well, we can live with the lack of space combat.
