Return to Monkey Island: Finally gameplay for the long-awaited sequel

At today’s Nintendo Direct, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable were finally announced for the Switch, too Guybrush Threepwood was allowed to enjoy the limelight for almost a minute and a half. In addition to the PC, Return to Monkey Island will also be released for the Nintendo switchand there was also the first gameplay for the new part.

With that, fans and critics could now do it too brand new graphic style in motion, after previous opinions were based only on a few screenshots. After the reactions of some fans at the first unveiling of the new Monkey Island title, even developer Ron Gilbert spoke up and expressed his disappointment at the criticism.

As Gilbert announced in a statement that he wanted to give the series a new coat of paint, after all he was not developing a retro game and therefore could not understand the critical fan voices. With the new Gameplay trailer they can now think again about their previous opinion and either change their mind or insist on it.

Because in the Nintendo Direct Return to Monkey Island finally showed itself in motion and opened the curtain for the numerous characters of the new part. Of course, adventurers Guybrush Threepwood and Zombie Pirate LeChuck, who deliver an exciting saber duel in the trailer. Elaine Marley is also back and appears to be a playable character.

At the beginning of the video, protagonist Guybrush gives you a little introduction and then gets to shine with the most screen time. Whether on board a pirate ship, on a tropical island or deep under the sea: the adventurous treasure hunter presents his new look and will certainly fuel the discussion about the graphic reorientation of the series again.
