News
A new update is coming for the Windows 10 versions 21H2, 21H1 and 20H2. The optional patch KB5014666 brings the build numbers to 19044.1806, 19043.1806 and 19042.1806. 20H2 is only used in certain Education and Enterprise versions. Users of all other Windows 10 editions should catch up on one of the current function updates accordingly.
About the patch: KB5014666 brings, among other things, the bug fixes that Windows 11 is currently supplied with. These are, for example, bug fixes for the cloud clipboard or Windows’ own WLAN hotspot. There were also errors with right-click functions on touchpads and with certain language settings.
New features include IP address auditing for “Windows Remote Management” connections, which will probably only affect classic consumers in very few cases.
For printers, KB5014666 for Windows 10 makes things a little more convenient and secure. The Internet Print Protocol for network printers introduced in 2018 is being extended to USB devices, online printing processes can now also be authorized by PIN query. Manufacturers can now provide more functionality through printer support interfaces. In addition, Windows 10 with the patch supports the “eSCL Mopria Scan” protocol, which can now be used with corresponding scanner devices.
More information about the patch KB5014666 see the patch logs. The download is triggered manually in the Windows 10 settings or can be Windows Update Catalog import. The download does not yet contain any security updates and therefore does not necessarily have to be installed. That will only follow in about two weeks when the patch day is due in July.
