A brutal co-op game has 87% positive reviews on Steam - Coming for free on Epic soon

Are you looking for a cheap co-op game where you can really let off steam? Then Killing Floor 2 might be a good option for you.

What kind of game is this? There are many ways to deal with a full blown zombie apocalypse. “Killing Floor 2” from 2016 chooses what is probably the most direct way: it gives you just about every imaginable weapon to cross out the “un” from undead.

The game principle is very simple: Gather up to 6 friends, choose one of several classes and grab the weapon of your choice.

From the pistol to a standard shovel and the sharp katana to the chainsaw or the flamethrower, pretty much everything is included.

Now you have to face the advancing zombie hordes. In team work you should survive round after round and turn the angry undead into kindling. Warning: This is not necessarily for the faint of heart. As the title already suggests, Killing Floor 2 is pretty wacky, bloody and sometimes scary.

Numerous updates throw you into a wide variety of settings – sometimes it’s “normal” zombies, sometimes against moon undead or Christmas monsters.

The GameStar test for the 2016 release also shows what the game looks like:

Don’t expect a big story from this game, just some crazy rounds of zombie smashing with friends. The game stands for exaggerated action – you notice that at the latest when you fire at the zombies in slow motion.

By the way, we show you many good co-op alternatives in the list of the best co-op games in 2022.

What players are saying about Killing Floor 2

What Makes Killing Floor 2 Popular? The game from Tripwire Interactive (the makers of the rather insane Maneater or the co-op knight fun Chivalry 2, by the way) enjoys mostly positive reviews on Steam.

A total of 88% of the total reviews since release have been positive (out of 71,336), while the ratings recently published in the last 30 days are still 87% (out of 425).

Among other things, there is praise for the optics and the sound of the game. Also, the game is simply described as a good co-op experience with fun gameplay. In addition, depending on the level of difficulty, the game becomes quite challenging – if you want it to be.

However, Killing Floor 2 can become repetitive over time.

How much does the game cost? After the game was released in 2016, Killing Floor 2 is now back in focus due to some offers.

  • in the Epic Games Store you can get the game for free between July 7th and 14th. That’s only a week away.
  • The game is also part of the Steam Summer Sale on Steam to get cheap – if you’re in a hurry. There it costs 6.74 euros instead of 26.99 euros until July 7th.
  • Also in the PS Store the game has just been discounted until July 7th, from 29.99 euros to 7.49 euros.

Tip for longtime PS Plus members: in 2017 Killing Floor 2 was one of the free games, so you might already have it in the library. The game is currently not available on the Xbox.

But if zombies aren’t your thing, it’s still a good time to shop for bargains. The Steam Summer Sale, for example, is currently offering a lot of games at low prices. There are also a few insider tips – such as the popular space survival game “Empyrion”.
