God of War Ragnarok Developer Receives Inappropriate Photos from Impatient Fans

God of War Ragnarok Creative Director Cory Barlog has called on players to treat the developers with “human decency and respect” after a game developer received messages containing inappropriate images.

Developers are human too

Almost at the same time as Ron Gilbert decided to stop updating Return to Monkey Island due to toxic players and personal attacks, a similar thing is happening to Barlog and his team in Santa Monica. The developers have had a lot to listen to over the past few days as rumors have it that an update to God of War was scheduled for yesterday, June 30th.

Barlog said on Twitter before the presumed date that this was not true. The impatient pack of gamers didn’t seem to care, however, and began berating the studio and harassing a developer. Cinematics Producer Estelle Tigani claims she received unsolicited revealing images from users who simultaneously asked for God of War Ragnarok’s release date. They probably hoped that their little contribution would motivate Tigani to answer.

Barlog himself is appalled by this behavior and doesn’t understand why some players treat the developers with so little respect. “They work their ass off to create something for you to enjoy. Show some friggin’ respect,” says him on Twitter.

The same applies to journalists and insiders. on the comment of a user below Tigani’s tweet blaming Jason Schreier, among others, for this mess, Barlog said, “Don’t do this. The answer isn’t to find someone to blame or hate.”

“Maybe we should just look ahead and treat the people who make the things we love with some decency and respect. This isn’t a battle, we’re not at war. We’re just trying to make things together and enjoy them .”

Phil Spencer commented on Barlog’s tweet, writing, “Very well said Cory. Can’t wait to enjoy GoW when it comes out. And thanks to you and the team for the amazing job you’re doing making things creating things we love. Thank you.”
