Far Cry: Rework - Enhanced Edition as a mod for the first part in development

from Michael Miskulin
A modder is currently putting his energy into developing a new mod for the classic first-person shooter Far Cry. However, this is not supposed to be a remake or a remaster, but rather an enhanced edition of the Steam version of the game.

Crytek’s classic shooter Far Cry is still working on new cool modifications. A mod called Far Cry: Rework by modder “-SX-” is a large mod in development for the first Far Cry game.

Far Cry Rework – Visual style same as the beta version

According to the modder, Far Cry: Rework should not be a remake or remaster. Rather, he would like it to be viewed as an Enhanced Edition of the Steam version instead. So don’t expect huge improvements. Far Cry: Rework will initially receive the same visual style for the environments as the beta version of the title. This makes the title darker and heavier. So just right for those for whom the original game was just too bright. Check out the following Youtube video to get a first impression of the mod.

Players can also expect increased draw distance, new vegetation from Far Cry 2010, a new fog effect for the jungle, and new terrain textures with better bump, displacement, and specular maps. There are also some new objects, better water shaders, some upscaled textures, new rocks and CookiePLMonster’s Silent Patch.

It is not yet clear when Far Cry: Rework will be released. Until then, you might be able to while away the time with a not-so-successful fan concept trailer for Far Cry 7 on Unreal Engine 5. Or you watch Far Cry Returns; a modder’s work on an “unofficial sequel”.
