Graphics card prices in the USA: 57 percent cheaper since January on Ebay

from Maximilian Hohm
Graphics card prices on the Ebay auction platform have fallen sharply since January, especially in the USA. An average drop of 57 percent is also allowing gamers to buy graphics cards again as US retailers continue to try to keep prices high. Read more about this below.

Since cryptocurrency prices have started to fall sharply, graphics card prices have also fallen significantly and gamers can again buy graphics cards at reasonable prices. The same phenomenon can be observed even more pronounced in the USA. The electricity prices there are significantly lower than in Germany and mining is theoretically worth longer, but not if enormous sums have to be paid for graphics cards. The colleagues from Toms Hardware carried out a market analysis and were able to draw several interesting conclusions from it.

To do this, they not only checked the retail prices, but also the used prices on the eBay auction platform. Since the beginning of June, they have concluded that the current generation graphics card has fallen 14 percent in price on Ebay, while the previous generation has fallen 17 percent. Retail prices have fallen just 3 percent over the same period, despite aggressively promoting deals on graphics cards.

Since the beginning of 2022, the prices of graphics cards on Ebay have fallen by an average of 57 percent, while it is very difficult to compare with American retailers as there was hardly any inventory in January as miners bought it up in a very short time. The same miners are now selling many of their graphics cards on Ebay, so buyers can find good deals but face mining damage to the graphics cards. However, Toms Hardware also recommends users with a limited budget to wait a little longer if possible and to strike in the course of a potentially even larger sale.
