Star Wars: So It Continues After Obi-Wan Kenobi

Star Wars: Andor

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series may be over, but Star Wars is far from over. Series, games and films are intended to bring the far, far away galaxy in which Star Wars is set to life. Disney and Lucasfilm seem particularly fond of the series

Star Wars: New Series

The following projects are in development and will be released on Disney+ in the near future: Some of them even this year.

Andor (31 August)
After the ambivalent impression Obi-Wan left, many fans are pinning their hopes on this series, which is set to revolve around Rogue One’s rebel spy Cassian Andor. The first trailer promises a dark look at the Star Wars universe

and many new characters.

Tales of the Jedi (Autumn)
This animated series takes viewers back to the times of the Old Republic, just before or during the Clone Wars. Tales of the Jedi has been announced as an anthology series in which Ahsoka Tanno and Count Dooku are expected to play important roles. In addition, Qui-Gon Jinn should appear.

Young Jedi Adventures (Spring 2023)
This series, which is aimed at a young target audience, goes one step further into the past. Also planned as an anthology series, Young Jedi Adventures follows the adventures of young Jedi Knights in training in the High Republic. This is so far mainly known through a series of books and comics.

Ahsoka (2023)

As a spin-off of The Mandalorian, this series around fan favorite Ahsoka Tanno is called. Played by Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka is set to hunt down Grand Admiral Thrawn, a character already known from Rebels, in her first solo adventure. Second connection to the series, which like Ahsoka was developed by Dave Filoni, is Sabine Wren, who accompanies Ahsoka on her quest. Also present: Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker – but it is not yet known what form his appearances will take.

Skeleton Crew (2023)
Again for younger viewers this series with Jude Law should be. Like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, this series is set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Within Lucasfilm, the series is described as: Star Wars meets the Steven Spielberg films of the late 80s.

Three other projects, for which no start date is known yet, are a series over Lando Calrissian (probably starring Donald Glover), Rangers of the New Republicwhich stars a group of X-wing pilots, and The Acolyte. The latter in particular has fueled fan speculation. Because here, for the first time, a servant of the dark side of the force should be the focus. Since the series is also set during the High Republic, it has been speculated that this is Darth Plagueis, the old master of Palpatine.

Star Wars: New Seasons

The new seasons that Disney and Lucasfilm have announced for their previous successful series should also come as little surprise.

The Bad Batch, Season 2 (Fall 2022)
In the fall, viewers will find out how the adventures of clone unit 99 continue in the early days of the Empire. Important questions that remained unanswered in Season 1 should be answered, such as what the mysterious Omega is all about and how it is connected to Palpatine’s own cloning experiments.

The Mandalorian, Season 3 (February 2023)
For some fans, The Book of Boba Fett was nothing more than the unofficial third season of The Mandalorian. There will be an official one next year. In it, Din Djarin is supposed to find out that the legendary Darksaber brings with it a lot of responsibility. Miniyoda Grogu will probably be there again. According to leading actor Pedro Pascal, there is “action, spectacle, surprises.”

Visions, Season 2 (Spring 2023)

Star Wars: Visions is also planning a second season.

A surprise hit was the series Star Wars: Visions, where Star Wars met anime. Similar to Season 1, Season 2 will again be an anthology series, but this time, animators from around the world will deliver their visions for the Star Wars universe. Filmmakers from Japan, South Africa, Chile, France and other countries are at the start.

It’s very likely, but it’s still an open question The Book of Boba Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi get a second season.

Star Wars: New Movies?

Star Wars: Taika Waititi is set to direct the next Star Wars film.

Disney and Lucasfilm, on the other hand, are suspiciously quiet when it comes to new films in the Star Wars universe. Many projects such as Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy or the planned films by Game of Thrones creators DB Weiss and David Benioff are on hold. Patty Jenkins’ “Rogue Squadron” film, scheduled for Christmas 2023, was recently postponed indefinitely.

So currently only two movies are planned, but not much is known about them. On the one hand, Marvel mastermind Kevin Feige wants to make a Star Wars film, on the other hand none other than Taika Waititi. The latter in particular is what fans are expecting to breathe new life into the Star Wars franchise with his very own and witty style. However, Waititi’s film is not expected to hit theaters until the end of 2023 at the earliest.
